I am really missing the Government's graphs. Will we ever see them again?

There’s a character in Salman Rushdie’s latest novel, Quichote, called Evel Cent.

He’s a tech guru who claims to have built a portal to a parallel universe, and is marketing it to billionaires wishing to escape Armageddon.

All the best for getting sorted Dave. Have you included your MP and national media at both ends?

I wouldn't bet against a reduction in money though. They may reduce the maximum amount from £2,500 a month.

Edit: Apparently not. Changes to come in July but to share the burden of salaries between government and employers.

Repatriation flights have become a bit of a joke here. The Kuwait government is subsidising flights for low income workers to leave as some countries were reluctant to accept inbound flights. They’ve started now for very little cost. Flights to US/UK were on offer for nearly double the normal price with horrific routes. All the flights were only running freight or bringing Kuwaitis home so were able to offer the journey out to wherever they could get to. Most expats still with jobs have said they’d much rather stay here!

The UK ambassador said travel out of Kuwait was at your own investment and risk and that no government assisted repatriation would be offered even if you were desperate. I know of at least 10 Brits who were stuck here and private citizens here brought their flights home for them. Thankfully it’s Ramadan and a time where Muslims are donating enormous amounts to charities.

    Edit: Nevermind!

Thanks, SJ. That’s a very good point, though my local MP being that waste of space Caroline Nokes, it’s probably not worth it. However, I’ll try and include a few of the more ‘reasonable’ (if there are any) media in my follow up.

Thanks, RJ. Yes, I saw an article about how passenger planes are being used to transport freight. Chairman of BA has said “we’re leaving some seats in the planes, so we can be flexible” - yeah right. They’re apparently coming down to Johannesburg with PPE (which is interesting as I thought the U.K. didn’t have enough) and going back laden with fruit for the supermarkets. Just tells me what I already knew - commerce is WAY more important than people ........

So sorry for your pain, Kaito. Sounds like a wonderful woman who meant the world to the family. One thing I really hope comes out of this tragedy is that people are more caring towards each other ......
I hope I’m not being too optimistic though ......

You can now pay a cleaner or a nanny to come into your home, but you cannot invite a member of your family to visit.
How fecking ridiculous is this? If it’s too dangerous to invite your own family in then surely it’s too dangerous to invite people in who might not be totally honest about their health, because they need money.
Oh, I see. You might leave a window open. Yeah, that will make it alright.
He says about the danger of passing the virus onto a granny, but it appears that the risk of passing it onto the nanny or cleaner doesn’t merit talking about.

Beggars belief when, not so much on here, people gob off about the UK being the world's fifth or sixth or whatever richest, most powerful nation and needed repatriation flight, albeit commercial, take second place, What a ****ing triumph (thanks Vin).
