Famously, amongst my my friends and family, at half time I predicted Kaboul would score that winner in a 3-2 win. I almost never make predictions but something made me say it... I had a similar premonition about France 3 - 0 Brazil in the '98 World Cup Final. That one freaked the **** out of Mrs B because I told her that I could see it on the screen as the game kicked off. She asked me..."How likely it would be it be for that to be the result?". I told her it was highly unlikely but I saw it on the screen, anyway.
Wasn't it last year that Arsenal celebrated 100 years since the Liverpool chairman gave Arsenal a "freebie" into the 1st division at our expense?
I (jokingly...) predicted a 5-1 win over Chelsea in the Season Killer Cup semi way back when Should've put a fiver on it...
I joked with my brother that Ronnie Rosenthal would score a hat-trick when he came on for Nethercott in that FA Cup match at Southampton! I didn't suggest we would actually score 6 though.
I didn't put a bet on either. I said them before I had a chance to think and I'm not sure that I believed they had the slightest chance of being correct ........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Just when you thought that Kyle Walker was 'nailed on' for this season's 'Sports Prat Of The Year', enter former England international and now, Director of Womens' Football at Aston Villa, Eniola Aluko... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52644983 **** me, how deluded and self-obsessed are these twats? If only she'd been unfairly judged by someone through no fault of her own, she might be less inclined to make such a ridiculously stupid statement.... What's that...? She was what...? Oh. **** her then.
So Alan Shearer and Ian Wright have between them picked the best 14 goals of the 'premier league' era, and have muddied the water by choosing 2 scored in the FA cup, and as you would expect we don't feature "" So here are 10 which in my book are all better than half of of those chosen. and from These Keane, Edman, & Bentley
No Crouch v City for Stoke, either. Charlie Adam v Chelsea could be another Stoke one. Kompany's one is only there because of how important it was to their title race. It's a good goal, but top ten?
They seem to have forgotten 1st division goals. It's all about PL today. I can remember some Bobby Charlton bombs....and I'm a Spurs fan!
I agree Smithy, but the trouble is that it is only since the advent of the premier league that every goal has been available for us all to see. I used to have a BBC video of '101 great goals' from the old match of the day archives, and many of those were every bit as good as the ones in this list.
BT Sport are showing all of the remaining Bundesliga matches, apparently. Something to watch this weekend, at least.
I have a video celebrating 30 years of Match of the Day . "On August 22nd 1964,an audience of 20,000 people watched a new BBC 2 programme called "Match of the Day",which started as a nervous experiment. Thirty years later on August 20th 1994 the programme marked it's 1,058th edition and it's 30th birthday in front of an audience of around 6 million". We used to go to the pub then rush home to watch it.
Gosh.1964! We had lost Dave Mackay with a leg break followed by a second break.....and lost John White, struck by lightning while sheltering beneath a tree on a golf course! But we did say hello to Alan (Gilly) Gilzean and that phenomenal signing from Arsenal, Laurie Brown!!!!!......not forgetting that Irish lad with big hands. I think his name was Pat Jennings......and goodbye to Danny.
