Erm... I think he's on about Tim Berners Lee, tc. You know, the creator of the World Wide Web. Who did give it away for free.

There have been many people that contributed to the development of the internet, Alan Turing played his part as without computers we probably wouldn't have it.

Chapeau Dennis. I follow Olaf Falafel as well :emoticon-0105-wink:

Reading this back though I have exaggerated it a bit in my memory, but the point re hastily drafted legislation stands.

Yes,devolution until a major decision on furloughing is made, then she'll toe the party line.Sturgeon in particular is making a slim argument that the 'R' rate is still higher up here but when questioned on what it's sitting at,she gave a somewhat vague estimate of 0.7-1.0(as opposed to 0.5-0.9in England)? If and when the government choose to alter furloughing ,or even stop it,will she still continue to differ and run the risk of funding it from her own budget?

    R is not a rate, it’s a reproduction number

    Maybe so.
The people put her in power to run with the baton and when this becomes a political thing rather than about health, they'll decide again.

    Same with Johnson.

I'm of the opinion that last night was a lot about trying to get the economy moving as the country is potless and can't/won't pay us all to stay at home much longer - wealth over health perhaps.

Current message is too vague and places too much on individuals to do what's right for them even if it differs to their employers and the government. If you can work safely, why not?

The real question most people have is when they can see their families again and under what conditions and the travel methods - this all needs much clarity and a clearer message.

All that said, I'll use the stay home method generally, but I can do work in empty houses if required.

In his Radio 4 interview this morning he said it would be ok to meet up with more than one family member when out and about providing you maintained social distancing. He also mentioned that the quarantine exemption that, last night, applied only to the Republic of Ireland would now apply to people coming from France as well (to maintain trading links with Europe). It's good to see that he's remembered that we do trade with France through Calais - something he was unaware of in a previous Government office.
    DOH!

Read the following and comment on the difference between "internet" and "www", which is my point.

As one ignoramous called me a pedant, my view has been cemented that accuracy is a critical, and often a missing part of life these days, especially in the media.

Someone will be telling us all that Pythagoras invented a right-angle next !:emoticon-0100-smile

Clarification from UK Govt: You can meet one person from outside household in park etc if you follow social distancing You CANNOT meet two - such as both parents - at the same time Applies to England only.

So i can meet my dad and keep social distance, and my daughter can meet my mam and keep social distance and also keep distance from me. So a load of bollox and this is why people do what they want. It doesn't make any sense.

It is very hard for Boris to do anything right imo. As some people think they can ignore the advice/rules given.

But when the police are supposed to fine people that are gathering in parks etc, but they don't, i have seen them just walking round ignoring anyone flouting the distancing it makes it all a bit of a joke.

I seriously do think we will see a second spike of it in June and then we will be back to square one.

Best practice is to continue to avoid contact with other households and hopefully that's what most sensible people will do. Some morons will think the rules don't apply to them, just as they are already. You can't legislate for forty morons in Bolton who think it's okay to have a party and start scrapping with each other, some people are simply morons.

Worth reading for the research which explains how social distancing outside versus working at a distance in a closed space are very very different things. Fairly obvious really, but this spells it out. TLDR don't take risks when lockdown does lift.

I agree about best practice but why doesn't govt just say that instead of giving out mixed or incorrect messages? It plays right into the hands of the morons and chancers.

Indeed. My mother worked at Bletchley Park as a decoder just before I was born. My middle name was chosen as a result of her meeting Glenn Miller in what was Milton Keynes ( edit - he wasn't my father for the record :emoticon-0100-smile).
