Btw was listening to Andy Burnham on the issue of opening up differeng areas at different rates. He was against it saying we're all in this together so we should all come out of it together. Maybe because the NW is one of the worst hit.

On the project near me the 9 guys standing shoulder to shoulder peering down a hole didn't seem to have fully absorbed the social distancing message . I half expected Spike Milligan to jump out and run off shrieking .

If people weren’t so ****ing thick when it comes to social distancing it would be much easier to safely get more things moving again!

not yet but the 2 metre distancing cannot be fully maintained in a majority of workplaces so it will always be a "best you can manage" scenario imo .

I made some epic burgers for dinner last night. I’ve been doing a lot more cooking from scratch during lockdown! First time I’ve had my burger press out the box.

Everyone in the queue at Wickes click and collect were wearing masks, gloves and keeping the required 2 metres apart. Then some completely inconsiderate oaf, wearing no masks and gloves, casually walks closely past everyone in the queue to hand in his order number. C*nt!

The ***** demographic even have an incentive to aim for in July if they adhere to rules. But it’ll be them moaning when they **** it all up and their local is forced to close forever.

Can’t stand the pricks who walk along the entire length of the queue right next to everyone who are sticking to the rules. Often only to go and stand themselves at the back of the queue where they stay 2m apart as if the stupid **** hadn’t just got in everyone’s face!

This is just all about trying to keep UK (read English government's) business and economic interests synced up with most of the rest of the world and certainly Europe (especially given that y'know, Brexit is still a thing and we can't lose out or look bad and have to be better than them). Lockdown is being eased in these places and the economy starting to come back to life so the government doesn't want to be stuck out in the cold while those places start to try and get things moving again. Those countries are now able to do this because those countries locked down in a timely and appropriate way at an appropriate time, if Johnson had locked down two-three weeks earlier then he might now be able to be announcing the same slackening, but because they delayed, apparently 'going off the science', we ended up being somewhat behind these places in terms of the rate and severity of the spread and rate of infection, and tbf because it reached countries like Italy and Spain a bit sooner. So we are still significantly behind in terms of CV19's progression, large sections of the government and business interests would probably be alright with a more full opening up if they thought they could get away with it, and I'm sure that's at least partly what's been behind the mixed messages in the press and coming from official and political sources in the last week, testing the waters, seeing what would fly. What we got tonight was probably the result of all that, the slogan they released, 'Stay alert' seems like the sort of banal platitude stumbled upon when the real objective ultimately can't and won't fly so they've had to fall back and come up with something that at least superficially imitates moving forward

Are you a new PL board poster who will contribute to all topics or just a political/virus poster?

Just so I know, for my paperwork etc.

May as well send everyone who can't work from home back to work. The idea that there is a magical distance at which you will no longer breathe it in or touch a surface a prior person has left it on is nonsense.
