A sad and tragic example of this Government's extraordinary incompetence. I have never forgiven those who voted for Brexit nor will I ever forgive those who voted this lot into power. Anyone who thought a Government led by Johnson and supported by Gove and Rees Mogg would benefit this country must have a dysfunctional brain.
Not sure, but I think the article I was on, containing the link, said that the list was compiled by the “Led by Donkeys” group.
This really sits uncomfortably with me. As you say the NHS is a service funded by the public, not just another charity to raise money for. It is quite scandalous really that we need to raise money for it.
It's difficult to see how Corbyn could have been less effective as a PM than Boris. Although you can be sure that the flak this lot have got would have been doubled. I don't necessarily agree on FPTP though. The electorate are extremely fickle now and I think that a really bad Brexit, which is now virtually a certainty, could see some major swings in voting especially after their performance is analysed after Covid is done and dusted.
Whilst trying (and probably failing) not to generalise/stereotype, I suspect that a majority of the people in normally Labour-voting areas, who voted Tory to 'Get Brexit Done' may not do so again, unless they consider that Boris and his cronies have done a good job in minimising the effect of Covid-19. Do you think that Rees-Mogg has been nailed back into his coffin, in order not to scare the electorate?
Probably something to do with his hedge fund saying that the current situation offers a great opportunity to make good returns on investments. Maybe we should all go out once a week and applaud The Moggster.
With hindsight yes things could have been done earlier and perhaps quicker. It always amazes me though that we always have politicians that have this hindsight except those in power at the time!
The government did have hindsight though as they had witnessed the effect of the virus in China and in Italy. They also had the benefit of a pandemic training exercise carried under the previous Tory administration. To have been so incompetent as to be responsible for the death of over 30 000 of our fellow citizens is unforgivable. We have faced and are still facing a terrible pandemic with the most incompetent people ever running the country. If I drive a car recklessly down the road and run someone over and kill them and you say I should have driven more slowly and cautiously and it wouldn't have happened does that absolve me because you are talking with the benefit of hindsight. No because I should never have been allowed behind the wheel in the first place. The same applies with this current cabinet. They should never have been put in charge in the first place.
With hindsight, electing a spineless lazy unprincipled clown as PM was asking for trouble. Some of us did have the foresight to point that out at the time.
And not just those of a left wing inclination. Keith Simpson, Tory MP for South Norfolk : " The one thing that you can rely on with Boris is that, in the end, he will let you down."
I take it from your "hindsight" comment you haven't read St Badge's excellent appeasement attachment which kicks any talk of hindsight straight into touch. Many of the public lead the way and took precautions and were horrified by gung ho handshaking Boris spaffer Johnson allowing Cheltenham, Liverpool vs Atletico etc which lead to unnecessary suffering and deaths. International condemnation of the inept UK government's lack of action has been widespread and well publsised. All the information was in hand to have given a lead in containing the virus. Never forget, never forgive well said Chilcs.

There’s a Nigerian doctor who is being stopped from working, because his “English certificate” has expired. Seriously, red tape or jobs worth bullshit is preventing a qualified doctor from carrying out his job because a renewed certificate cannot be obtained, owing to lockdown. This is a man who has been speaking English from primary school years, progressed through higher education and university, using English, and who passed his medical exams in English. Why the hell is he still having to prove that he can speak the language?
