I used to be a hippy, smoke joints and take acid Now i have a bad hip, aching joints and acid reflux.....
Morning all. Grey, with the sun peeping through the clouds every now and again, but the likelihood is that storms will sweep through later today. Paris is normally the centre of the French nations celebration of the 8th May with large gatherings along the Avenue des Champs-Élysées. Not this year of course, although a very scaled down ceremony will take place. In the towns and villages across the country the local mayor will be allowed to place a wreath on the war memorial, but only one flag bearer will be in attendance, and no gatherings of the population. To see the streets and parks of Paris empty of people and traffic is quite surreal, but thankfully the numbers in the hospitals are coming down daily, and hopefully the residents there will have some of the restrictions lifted before too long. Have a good day whatever you can do.
My wife has just achieved a world record for the flattest homemade scones, although tasted ok. It could have been the lack of self raising flour.
Morning all A full on day in the garden yesterday, I now have seedlings growing in every available bed. Then a take away home made curry from a local punjabi parent who is seeking to bring some income in and support the local community.. Washed down with a bottle of new world white wine... Have a good day...
Morning all. Hot and steamy here this morning. We had a storm in the early hours right overhead, with plenty of rain to go with it. More of the same forecast during the day, so gardening on hold. Today is Mme"s birthday, she is only one year younger than me now. The usual dinner down by the river is on hold this year for the time being, but there is hope that in a few weeks they might be able to reopen. I think that lots of small businesses are going to need plenty of support when they do start up again. Have a good day whatever the weather.
Without a doubt - musically, vocally and visually - he was my biggest influence. Seeing him live in my teens was the most exciting event in my life at that point. Goosebumps, electricity and joy came from every pore Elton John about Little Richard. Back in the 1950's he breathed a new life and style into the music scene. So many of the rock musicians who have been hugely successful have said how much he influenced them. Many will not remember the country coming out of the era when Perry Como was still warbling about "Magic Moments", but to see the stark contrast with someone who was larger than life singing about "Long Tall Sally" was a real seed change. Like Elton I was excited to see something so radically different, and as a hack pianist tried like hell to play like him without success. His personal life was a mess, just like so many of the music makers that have managed to live through it, but how different would things have been without them? I am thankful to him for giving a me an alternative to my musical tastes, and a real energy to those who were influenced by him.
