Ahh sorry I didn’t notice Pompeys clue. I have heard of the fella and the CNT (I have a T-shirt with an old propaganda poster of theirs from the time). Have you read a book called ‘ The Spanish Holocaust’ ? Until I read it I never realised all the atrocities and massacres that happened during that war....some as bad if not worse than those perpetrated by the Nazis...appalling stuff.
The Left might of had a chance if they weren’t so factionalised and stated fighting each other. I guess the Left throughout history....SPLITTERS!!

I prefer Jerry Sadowitz as a shock-type comedian, also a brilliant magician. Sadly, he seems to hot to handle for TV these days...

I love Jerry Sadowitz, saw him a sparsly filled Aylesbury theatre. Half the audience walked out...I do not think they knew what they were in for.

In other news Japan approves Remdesivir, 2nd country after USA.

At lunchtime Nicola Sturgeon came out guns blazing about not being informed of Boris's plans for Sunday and not knowing about todays COBRA meeting and what was said

Matt Hancock has said that people from ethnic minority backgrounds in the UK are "disproportionately" dying with coronavirus.
I think we knew this early on...it is really sad that so many of our front line NHS staff and care workers are of a BAME heritage.

Still waiting on numbers of tests Bobmid.

Sturgeon: Changing lockdown message could be 'catastrophic mistake'

Nicola Sturgeon has warned it could be "catastrophic" to drop the stay at home message as she announced that the lockdown is to be extended in Scotland.

It has been suggested that Boris Johnson could scrap the slogan as part of moves to ease some lockdown rules.

Ms Sturgeon said the Scottish government may be prepared to allow people to spend more time outdoors.

But she said scrapping the "clear, well understood" stay at home message was "a potentially catastrophic mistake".

Ms Sturgeon said she would prefer all four nations to make changes together because that would help give consistent messages to the public.

However, she said it was possible to go "different ways" if they were at different stages.

She said: "If the prime minister wants to move at a faster pace for England, that is his right.

"But I hope you understand and agree that I must make judgements, informed by the evidence, that are right and safe for Scotland.

"I will not be pressurised into lifting restrictions prematurely until I am as certain as I can be that we will not be risking a resurgence in infection rates."

Media captionCoronoavirus: Easing lockdown now could be 'catastrophic'
Mr Johnson will deliver an address to the nation on Sunday evening, and has suggested that some measures could start being eased from Monday.

Ms Sturgeon said: "Extreme caution is required at this critical juncture to avoid a rapid resurgence of the virus.

"It is not an exaggeration to say decisions now are a matter of life and death.

"That is why they weigh so very, very heavily and why they must be taken with great care, and it is why as I take them I will continue to err on the side of caution."

The first minister said the Scottish government's assessment of the evidence "leads me to the conclusion that the lockdown must be extended at this stage".

However, it is possible to make changes to the regulations before the next review date in three weeks' time "if the evidence suggests it is safe to do so".

Nicola Sturgeon says she must extend the lockdown in Scotland to stop a resurgence of the virus.

Because the rate of infection (the now famous R number) is still at or around one in Scotland, possibly slighter higher than in other parts of the UK, she says any easing of the current restrictions would be "very very risky" indeed.

This may not be the same message we hear from Boris Johnson on Sunday.

That means we could soon see different parts of the UK operating under different lockdown rules.

The Scottish government has published a paper of options for starting to lift restrictions, although no dates are suggested.

Ms Sturgeon said she "may be prepared to agree to a change to guidance limiting outdoor exercise to once a day only". It has been rumoured that such a move is being considered by UK ministers.

However, she said this "would not change the overall message" that people should remain close to home and not mix with other households.

"The other possible changes that are reported in the media, such as encouraging more people back to work now, opening beer gardens, or encouraging more use of public transport, would not in my judgment be safe for us to make yet.

"What I do not want a few weeks from now is for us to see a resurgence of this virus, and for you to be asking me 'why on Earth did you start to ease lockdown a week or a couple of weeks too early'?.

Ms Sturgeon also said it was thought that the country's infection rate might still be higher than in other parts of the UK.

She said this may reflect the fact that the first cases of Covid-19 north of the border came later than in England

Generally dislike this one trick pony but she's putting Johnson and his cronies to shame. Come Monday our wibbly wobbly lockdown is going to be even more amorphous and therefore dangerous.

Anthony Jeselnik is really good, he’s got a couple of specials on Netflix. ‘Thoughts and prayers’ is definitely worth a watch. He also shows to a degree where he stands on things. He will get **** from some who will use a faux outrage as they don’t like who he is or what he stands for

I think it has to go either way. A lot stricter, huge fines, etc... as so many people are flouting the rules which will have others think why bother and do the same. Or loosen up somewhat, expect a rise in cases, deaths and maybe revert back at a later date? The main reason I could see for this would be the concern that it starts to rise again in the winter.

Seems a gamble to let us out and hope the second spike remains within the summer months. The thought of it in the winter months is terrifying.

Absolutely. I’m currently in a position that staying in decimate me financially soooo as a selfish thought ... but I understand not everyone is that lucky. Also everyone is noticing how much busier the streets and about in general has become so I’m kinda thinking with so many with this attitude the virus will stay at a status quo and progress won’t be made at all. For me it has to go either way... what is right... no idea.

Some of these journos at the Press Briefings are monumentally thick , Beth Rigby asking whether we can sunbathe on Monday but not Sunday when no announcement has been made anyway. The press doing a great job sh*t stirring as usual quoting newspaper speculation as their guide. Rigby, Kuenssberg and Peston getting barmier by the day and they wonder why they can't win the trust of the public...
