Not sure how the matchday tests are supposed to be carried out either. If they are correct when saying 300 people minimum for televised games, how long do they think it will take to carry out these tests, get them to the lab, and get the results back? My Mum had a test done 8 days ago and is still waiting for the result.
Would be so exciting to watch. The bottom 8 teams with absolutely nothing to play for. The top teams fighting for qualification for competitions that may not happen. Plus a league title which could be secured in 2 or 3 games. Neutral venues would feel very weird though. I'll be interested to know also what is going to change in say 3 months on from June/July that will suddenly allow all stadiums to be used again. I assume that's the long term plan/aim otherwise what's the point.
This is an interesting development https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co...call-could-shape-leeds-uniteds-season-2653326
Explosive. No other word. Took the wind out of my sails too, as I was going to comment about the German test plan for players. I couldn't see that happening here & this has confirmed my point. Don't like the idea of no relegation from the PL, though. Want that Wet Sham bitch to be squealing like a hog when they go down. Now.
If this season cannot be resumed and played to a conclusion then expanding the PL to 22/23 teams next season would seem to be the best solution. The extra games would compensate clubs, season ticket holders and to some extent broadcast rights holders for the fixtures not played this season. It seems there will be little appetite for european and international matches for some time so the extra fixtures should be welcome and as the players are currently not playing but still being paid then I think there can be little complaint from them either. Only question would be how to decide on the the 3rd team for promotion ? Perhaps some sort of pre season tournament for the clubs 3rd to 10th (8 teams), straight knock out with 3rd placed Fulham to play 10th place Blackburn and so on.
I’d have preferred to see relegation to but to see Norwich and villa gone. Promotion for us will do. With maybe five teams to go down next season, that could see a complete rebalancing of the pl. there’s a fair few clubs that have been skating on thin ice for a few seasons and could finally make the drop
In a way, it's the Premier league clubs that don't want relegation, so if that doesn't count, so should non of the league placings, including champions. The EFL want relegation and promotion, so standings, whatever way they're worked out, should count. The PL said they don't want any more than a 20 team league, so if they don't want relegation either, meaning they don't want any change to the teams that are already in it. Which would be a disgrace
They do have a point though. Look at Brighton's games. Home games against Man City, Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal. Playing at their own ground the games would be far more evenly balanced. If the PL clubs decide on no relegation and have voted against increasing the size of the league, is there really any point to all these meetings over trying to finish what they have already made a worthless event?
They’re looking for a way to hand Liverpool the title, if it was a 5 horse race at the top and a point between them they’d probably void the season. Being it’s like it is if they hand Liverpool the title then it means final positions stand (or points per game or whatever deciding it) so they’d be accepting the season happened and concluded which means relegation and promotion.
Btw, TC, did you read the placings exercise carried out by Reading University the other day? Had Millwall finishing in 6th place! They ran 10,000 scenarios & came up with an end result. Us at the top, of course!
We are 2 points off of 6th place and have to play the following : Barnsley 24th Charlton 22nd Hull 21st Boro 19th Huddersfield 18th QPR 13th Swansea 11th Derby 12th Blackburn 10th I think 6th would be worse case scenario for us
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52543735 Rick Parry would sue the PL if they do not have relegation and promotion
