Professor John Newton who is head of our testing strategy, has just been on the wireless. He has obviously been spending a lot of time with politicians because he didn’t answer a single question directly, said that we had the best test and trace capacity in the world but it was impossible to continue it in the community from sometime in February for some reason, claimed that we do more testing than South Korea (not per head of population matey), and asserted that the German death rate wasn’t related to their ability to test people. Even his avoidance tactics were startlingly uninformative. Essentially the message was- we will definitely be able to do 100,000 tests by the end of this week but this doesn’t mean we will do 100,000 tests, testing is a key part of the strategy, testing really isn’t that important. Inspiring. Shame that the idiot doing the interview didn’t ask him about antibody testing, that would have been a laugh. I think it has been confirmed that as of today, or pretty soon, the care home deaths will be included in the daily death toll figure. Then we can compare our deaths directly with at least France, another country with PPE problems, a low level of testing and a similar sized population. At the moment from what I can see we won’t be too happy with the results of that comparison.
I really hate our media. Whatever happened to great journalism? Both BBC and Sky really need to step up. All they are worried about today is how many tests are being done today and will they make the 100K target tomorrow. "will we make the 100K target"? "he did say 100K by tomorrow" What these tw2ts need to realise is that many frontline workers are doing their best to get these tests done and they don't need to be pressured by crap media tw2ts like Kay Burley and Co. Even the Dr said "it's not just about 100K target but more importantly who gets tested" to be followed by "but will the target get met?'. Tw2ts! Rant over
Ah the monatoned wooden guy on yesterday. Yes he comes across more politician than anything else. Then again, these people are picked for a reason, they will follow the script, that becomes more obvious daily. It really isn't looking too good for us here in comparison, due to the decisions we have made. We can blame the media if it suits but everyone knows where the buck stops whether they are brave enough to admit it or not.
Antigen testing for NHS and Care Home staff is obviously important - we need to know if they're safe to go to work. But what happens with those testing negative - will they get tested again next week, and the week after, and the week after that? Testing of non-front line workers is being restricted (currently at least) to those with symptoms. If, as Beth suggested, 60% of those contracting the virus will be asymptomatic, that still leaves a whole lot of potential carriers out there. It seems to me, and I think you agree, that focusing on getting a functioning antibody test would be more productive.
No one asked Hancock to set the 100,000 target. Johnson actually said 250,000 but that was probably a Priti moment.
I wonder when Boris will get back on the briefings or do you think they are trying to keep him away from them.
eer Boris never said 250K by the end of the month so don't start that one. I said at the time Hancock shouldn't have given that target because all the idiots would say "you never met it"! More importantly Stroller it's who gets tested that's important. No point testing people like me as I'm at home and not going out? If you mention Priti and her mistake more than twice I think that might be deemed as a racist mate? PS just to confirm when I refer to 'idiots'... it's the idiots in the press i am talking about.
Who other than South Korea do we know that has mass testing of the antibody tests... Germany? I don't know of any other. Maybe someone else will knows
Stroller I found this article https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/26/coronavirus-uk-government-assessing-antibody-test-kits I also read that China sent a load out to various countries but they ended up being 2222. Coronavirus: India cancels order for 'faulty' China rapid test kits https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-52451455
China is starting to get nasty now. They are also moaning about India because they complained about testing kits. Australia called 'gum stuck to China's shoe' by state media in coronavirus investigation stoush https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...ate-media-in-coronavirus-investigation-stoush
You’d know all about that you little racist you......at least after I mentioned it you’ve stop putting out the constant racist memes.....I see that as a small victory.
Why don’t they realise old snowflakes just want to read nice puff pieces and positive news about all the great stuff the government is getting done? Disgraceful.
Boris and Carrie have had a baby boy. Many congratulations I had no idea they were so far along. Is time just speeding now
