Just saw this on skysports.com

Are Newcastle realistic top four contenders?

So far 11% have said yes and 89% have said no.

I know we shouldn't get carried away and I know we'll finish nowhere near top 4 , but it's good to see SOME people recognise our wonderful start to the season. If we can keep this form up until January (Will be difficult when we have City , Man United and Chelsea after each other) and then get another striker in then I'm more than confident we can finish in 7th or 8th.

As you say there's no way that we'll finish in the top four, but we're on a par with a lot of teams that get a lot more credit than us, so I see no reason why a top 8 finish isn't possible. Our central midfield pair for me is the best outside of the 'big' 6.

 

Build on last season, that's our goal. Top ten will do me, we can look higher if we spend more money after that. It will take YEARS obviously, I'm not going to get caught up in the commotion. Just enjoy the moment.

Winning just the final game of last season would have put us there.

 

I'm just enjoying the high at the moment....

 

I think between 7th and 10th and I would be delighted this season. I cannot see us finishing in the top 6 let alone the top 4.

Just voted yes, we've got to try and get that over 50%.

 

7th would be nice. If you remember we should have finished 9th if not for a total collapse and throwing away a 3-goal lead in the final 30 min of the season.

 

I hope we're still fourth in three games time. We've got some winnable fixtures coming up before a horrific run of hard games. It would be nice to go into them with some sort of cushion.

 

Can't really argue with those results like. Even the mere insinuation that we're going to beat Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea or Tottenham/Arsenal to a top 4 spot is sheer madness.

Not really a fan of this poll though. To me it just seems like a way to take the piss.

 

A small part of me is actually looking forward to the hard run of games. Only a small part, mind. We've always seemed to have done well in the face of difficult matches. I wanna see us slug it out in these games and put in a fight which proves that we aren't just near the top due to an "easy" run of games.

Milking it with all my Arsenal/Liverpool/Spurs supporting mates atm, but would be happy with top 10 this season
