https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...abia-consortium-fa-disqualified-a9481361.html Government wont get involved.... This is brilliant, never really cared about Newcaslte before. Now its a daily laugh fest. Just a shame Neville hasn't got shorter in the odds....yet
There's businesses all over the county with Saudi investment. These people are trying to present a case that the only business that should not be allowed to is NUFC .
If they’ve invested in other clubs then this can’t be considered a special case. I don’t know whether they have invested in other clubs but someone mentioned Sheffield United.
Just find it strange that the other clubs were not investigated, couldn't care about any of them. but the PL looking for a positive news story, surely turning down this deal woudl be the ticket as they support basic human rights.
The Saudis get a free pass because they control the oil and are ****ing rich. Occasionally governments mumble something about human rights and then sell them weapons to kill Yemeni children.
The issue is that it’s the investment fund of the Nation, therefore headed by the head of State. So the human rights abuses sit firmly and squarely with him. It’s also suggested that he could use his political influence over the investors in City and Sheff U and thus compromise the game.
They’ll be told to push it through in my opinion. Can’t see this deal being knocked on the head for human rights reasons. There is so much Saudi money invested in the U.K.
The argument is the same and they have no chance of the government stepping in because there's nothing wrong with it. The prem checks are to check the money is there , get an idea what the aims of the project are and if the owner has been convicted of a crime … the answer to the last part is no.
The Government doesn't control the PL, so they have no influence in reality. The move good for the PL regarding cash generation, is the area a good growth market for football and advertising? Will the negative human rights impact on future deals? The PL has a responsibility to protect all clubs from this possible bad press and loss of vital income now in the future.
furthermore the Government has already said it wont get involved and even took issue with the characterisation of the owner , saying they have a good working relationship with Saudi.
All true although the crown prince is a murderer. He got away with it though. They even made the son of the guy he ordered to be executed shake his hand.
I wonder if there is an issue with Man United signing a contract with Saudi investment a couple of days ago? The buyers have already paid 17 million deposit and according to the buying stages the would be buyers are given and answer on whether they're suitable before the official check, so I believe it's done and just a formality at the end of proceedings. Im still concerned, but I think that's just because things tend to go wrong up here
I'm not on this part, but I believe that the owner is actually Amanda Stavely and her husband with the Saudi simply as investors , so in it would appear that the entire bid has ben set up to allow a safe pass, I have a feeling their legal teams will have ensured there is no last minute problem that would mean they lose 17 million?
