New to this so not sure if it's been asked before but who is are freekick taker we had 5/6 in dangerous position and boothroyd Adel Barton faurlin and dj All had a go!! Think we should just pick to one let him have some practice and might atleast get it on target..or is it a ego problem??

Barton shouldn't be taking any imo. He's not got the technique for that. Adel always seemed to cock them up last season from the edge of the box, but he has got the ability to deliver imo. Ali can be good from the edge of the box too. Barton, Betty, DJ should just stay away from them. I'd leave them to Adel and Ali, but in truth, we just don't have a free kick specialist.

    This!!
By the end Villa knew we were only ever going to take direct free kicks, there was no element of suprise.
As everyone has said, too many cooks spoil the broth; surely we must have one or two players who are best suited to taking free kicks?
It can't be good for the nerves knowing you're only going to get one crack, then it's the next player's turn. Too much pressure to impress.
Give it to a select few- who will then be confident in the knowlegde they'll get another go should they mess up!

Time for the coaches on the training ground to earn their pay.

Don't know where all the talk of Tarbs being bad at free kicks has come from. Seem to remember him curling in a beaut against Derby(?) last season. Easily our best set piece taker imo. Even people like Becks hit the wall/hit it over the bar 80-90% of the time.

Think for a lot of our corners we didn't have enough men in the box either.
I counted 3 of us V 8 of them at one point
Bar Bothroyd, there aren't many physical presences for us to chuck in there?

Bothroyds about it. Hall should be good in the air at corners but isn't. Anton could pose a threat I suppose, but in the main we're a team of short arses, bit like that average spanish team.

they reckon they have been trying them out in training, you could have fooled me abysmal, they had one set piece & only world class save from paddy kept it out but thats how you should take them.

Can't have half the team taking turns at it!! Leave it to Adel and Ali from left and right to have a shot. From corners and kicks into the box Hall should be much more of a threat. He's a huge lump, but not a big enough threat in their box.

I have to agree with that to an extent rrr's, in every game we have been the better team in the first half hr. even against bolton and wigan. I think its a case of taking chances when we are on top, thats what we have been guilty off this season.

unfortunately i have to agree.... if our free kicks were to make a sound... they would be something along the lines of a wet fart.

A wet fart would probably trouble the keeper more.
