its freezing cold, I've drank my coffee, I don't know what will happen. same old **** sorry couldnt resist enjoy
Or you could see it as a positive. If BeIN want out then maybe see if Amazon would replace them after what I consider successful trials this season.
In these crazy months when the complete zone of professional football is shrouded in uncertainty of clubs' SURVIVAL, for there to be a mega wealthy sponsor offering to dive in and pump hundreds of millions of pounds into the game, surely The Premier League's fit and proper persons test will result in a 100% pass for our 3 new owners. It's in keeping with our experience over the last 13 years that we're made to sweat and worry. The process can be up to four weeks, so we've got to chill.
Just trying to allay fears you may have of this having an impact. There is always an opportunity and BeIN will lose out if they pull out as well. Might even get a Saudi broadcaster to pay in rather than pirating the matches so could be spun as a good news story
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52375947 So it is about premier league rights. But how is the pif linked to the illegal streaming. It’s not! It’s a totally separate issue.
having read through it's all just allegations, so I'm assuming without a conviction the complaint is not worth the paper it's written on.
it says the beIN have written to all 20 premier clubs I wonder what sort of response they would get from Newcastle United here's mine
basically confirms my fears sky reporter ! backtracking Been saying privately to mates since we broke this in Jan - Expect plenty of noise and politics to follow. Human rights, TV rights, even pressure from other clubs. Does any of that actually effect the PL checks? I'm not so sure? I'd be guessing. Just know it's close. #nufc
It's not even just that a conviction hasn't been sought. Bein tried to prosecute Arabsat over this issue in the French courts and were thoroughly disabused as to the legal strength of their position. They had to pay record fees as their reward and were threatened with retaliatory defamation charges.
I hate SKY! it was not really an issue until they started banging out the its done reports..until then nobody was worried or interested. If Sky had STFU it was going to go unnoticed enough to avoid this
There is no chance this will affect the deal. The Qatari's are worried about competition from Saudi TV. BEIN has exclusive rights in the middle east. The Saudis will come along and challenge their hegemony due to their links with NUFC. At the end of the day, the PL will be rubbing their hands at a potential bidding war for rights. They will know the Qatari's are worried. The rights will go to the highest bidder and the Saudis have enough wealth to bury any Qatari bid.
This is my view on it also. The pif is massive and to the premier league an opportunity to good to throw away.
My daughter's a lawyer in London, admittedly her expertise is antitrust and competition issues. However she couldn't see the government getting involved in this given how much Saudi investment was already in the country. I probably didn't explain where we are with takeover particularly well but she did think that the deal is is probably already done.
