I'm fortunate, as I'm in a seafood-heavy locale, and thus a bit over a pound of scallops cost me the equivalent of £9.50, and the asparagus was dirt cheap. It's nice to be able to gorge decadently for less than the cost of a large pizza.

/Fun note: 60 years ago, lobster was considered to be the food of poverty here. Good middle class families could afford bologna.

Theresa May had more balls than this Prime Minister and his cronies.

Walked a public footpath beside an asparagus field yesterday. I feel so sorry for the imported cheap labour that I just had to lend a hand!

My Fiance went back to work today after 3 weeks off. Was a tough slog in the house together 24 hours a day for that long but we made it through...Marriage is still going ahead!! Tough time for everyone but one good thing that has happened is that we seem to be getting in touch more through zoom etc with family members and friends that we wouldn't usually.
I'm a Primary school teacher in Dublin and feel very sorry for my class as they are going into Secondary school next year and this isn't the way we would all have envisaged their last few months in school. There's talk of going back one day a week but don't see how that is feasible tbh.
Sport is probably the thing I miss the most. Play both football and Gaelic football so it's hard to go from playing/training 5 nights a week to nothing. Doing a bit to keep fit but it's not the same. I'm quite involved with my League of Ireland club Finn Harps and if things are going the way our Health Minister is saying then the season could be voided after 6 games. It will have an astronomical effect throughout the league and for my club kill the progress we have made and might even kill us off altogether. Gigs being cancelled are another big thing for me. Thankfully there are some quiet parks nearby to go wandering and I have recently taken up darts and gone back to playing Championship Manager 01/02 again!
Can't wait to get back over to England for a weekend to try get in a Southampton match and a lower league match hopefully! One of the few things to look forward to!

That's a great idea! A Championship manager 01/02 style retro tournament. Can it be played online as a group?

I watched the ITV coronavirus Q&A programme this evening.
A question was asked by a key worker who needed time off to care for a child who is shielding. Her employer, like mine, told her that she didn’t qualify.
ITV consumer expert, Chris Choi confirmed that key workers could be furloughed under her (and my) circumstances, so I will be looking to send a link to work, in case they weren’t watching.
I am also waiting/hoping for a response from HMRC about the wording on the www.gov.uk website about eligibility, as it doesn’t make it clear that key workers with care responsibilities can be furloughed, which is what my employer is hiding behind. I have also asked my MP to chase the same issue.
If you hadn’t realised by now, I don’t give up easily, especially when I know I am right.

Don't flag St B you and others in similar situations need to get what's due.
