Rumours that Strawberry place will transfer with the deal which may open the door for expansion. With Ashley gone we're looking at 60,000 for the average home game as a minimum. What is the max do you think we can fill when we play big games?
What about relocating on the metro line to the airport in a big field somewhere to build a 70,000 seater multi sports complex like Eastlands and then selling SJP? With improved links, a monorail/pod system plus the metro it could be really accessible.
I hope one of the Arabs have had a **** in there lately and had to sit for 10 mins staring at out of date ads for our championship season. Nowt flash like gold leaf needed... just new tiles, grout, paint, floors, doors, ceilings, pans, seats and handles. The handles are a germ fest.
you can't sell what we don't own it would be difficult to sell a second hand stadium just ask the Makems , spruce up the seats a bit and still no fooker wants to buy them
That would make it quite a trek from the Earl though. We would have to finish drinking about 4hrs before the game. Or do you think they could relocate The Earl as well.
What's the state of the situation with the land across the road. Can the land be bought back? Has planning permission been given to build flats, but work not started?
It’s been sold. Think planning permission has been got but not sure if outline or detailed. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/developers-120m-strawberry-place-plan-17624803 Doubt that there will be provision to buy it back as that would be very unusual. Might have been part of negotiations as also think Ashley had a finger in that pie.
Pretty sure strawberry place was sold to a construction company to develop not a current ashley project
Sold to Helios Investment Partners and Marrico Asset Management LLP for £9m according to this :- https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/strawberry-place-st-james-approved-17224891
I'm sure if they "made them an offer they couldn't refuse" a deal could be had. Would you say no to a bunch of Saudi who wanted your land? I wouldn't....I'd say £50m and it's yours pal !
Seems a co-incidence that some valuable stadium development land was sold off just before a massive takeover. Hopefully money will once again talk, and the land will become available for stadium expansion.
