The most amazing thing about that is that Shane is one of the strikers you wouldn't bet your house on to score a 2 yarder and then he goes and does that. Had so much still to do when he got the ball and had to think and place it.

Oh and yep, just played it twice and got the goosebumps.

If this crisis doesn’t end more than a few political careers, then there will be no justice.
And given that all of the warnings, that were identified in the Cygnus pandemic report from 2016, have been ignored by previous governments, people like Cameron and May should also be crucified, because they too have played a massive part in our lack of preparedness.

South Korea are winning theirs by doing what we should have done from the outset. There is absolutely no excuse for the 5 weeks of treating the pandemic as something not to be concerned about. There is no excuse for not implementing the measures flagged up by Operation Cygnus 4 years ago. There is no excuse for allowing stocks of PPE to dwindle and become outdated.

A leopard doesn’t change its spots, a government built on lies will continue to lie their way out of trouble and at least half the population will believe them.

Probably. But even the Murdoch owned press appears a little less willing to be complicit this time around. Politically, Boris is in trouble if The Times is turning on him.

Moreover, he's providing a major test for America's political norms. One of the underappreciated aspects of politics, in most democracies, is the extent to which power isn't proscribed by hard-and-fast rules, but rather because You Don't Do That. And it's assumed that You Don't Do That because the political consequences are significant enough that it would be suicide. Turns out that there are a shocking number of people who don't really care how appalling your actions are or how many norms you violate so long as you're sticking it to the right people, and a great deal more dislike it but not enough to spur them to action.

You must live in a very strange place or have a huge chip on your shoulder. Young and old are taking their exercise on the Island and being very polite about it. I always thank someone who makes way for me and I often make way for young people as well because that’s called manners.

One of Trump’s aides appears to think that there has been 18 previous outbreaks of Covid. Went on Fox News and said (I paraphrase) that this is Covid-19 and not Covid-1 and the WHO should have been on top of it.

Yeah, that was Kelly-Anne Conway. That woman has tied herself in a thousand knots trying to justify her boss.

We must all have missed Covids 1-18!<laugh>

I've always said that there might be a little too much "Hollywood" in the average American. Covid-19 is NOT an 18th sequel. <laugh>
For clarification [just in case] Covid-19 is an abbreviation of Coronavirus Disease-2019. So the 19 is just the year. The Corona name is given because the virus wears a protein crown or Corona.

Actually, I'm a bit surprised that a US politician hasn't suggested that drinking Corona beer will make you more susceptible to the disease. I mean, surely that's fated to happen, isn't it? It's only a matter of time before someone stupid enough blurts it out. Then they can burn down the brewery. <cheers>

Both. But on the sanctuary of the IOW, you are all safe in the knowledge that no-one is a tourist, right? Here you can walk one mile and meet someone who does not recognise you. The retired privileged community sitting at home with all their bills paid should ponder how they would feel if they were still struggling by in the rat race when this hit. People are so wrapped up in their own preservation, they've forgotten what its like to struggle with the pressures of mounting debt. Just because you have a nice garden and are comfortable whittling your day away at home, doesn't mean everyone else is. I've seen a lot wrote about the selfish actions of the young, still meeting up in parks & the like. But what about the actions of the ones happy to sit this out while the country folds and the debt reaches crisis levels, no matter how long that takes! Both could be considered pretty selfish views. I'm at least honest with my standpoint.

Michael Gove reckons that lifting lockdown requires ` Balanced Judgement`. No $hit Sherlock. Gives me a warm, secure feeling knowing these great minds are in charge.

You also conveniently fail to mention that many of those retired are actually existing on state pensions, which is something below the poverty line for a single pensioner living alone. Also, most pensioners actually worked for a living for 50+ years so do they not deserve a bit of respite? Yes there are the privileged older people with private pensions and nice houses, but it ain't all like that.

No one I know of is criticising the actions of younger people. All the youngsters I know are finding it tough going but are doing the decent thing and abiding by the government instructions. You would be better off aiming your bitter comments at the multi-millionaires and politicians who don't contribute than a generation of people you know clearly little about.

A country like the UK, with no written constitution, is even more vulnerable to those abuses, as evidenced by Cummings and Johnson's shenanigans late last year. When your entire political machinery is based on precedent and convention, a government with no respect for either is exceptionally dangerous.

Totally agree I have been teting to get this point across, and in general I'm pretty disgusted with how many retired folk ha w and are acting with this

Those in the baby boom generation have literally lapped up and had stuff on a plate, now the entitlement appears of why should we lock down.

My dad is 73, keeps walking to town to, of all things, get cash out the bank. Last night, he went to the supermarket to only purchase alcohol.

When I suggested his generation may need to lock down for longer to stay safe, his view was, **** that I'm going out, but interested in rules I want my freedom to do what I want.

Now I'm sure not everyone in that generation feel and act the same, but many more do.

Well maybe the odd moan about the price of milk going up. I've given up telling him the **** storm we are entering. Might as well let him and the others live in the blissfulness of their surroundings, after all, they have paid their dues. As we're being told.
