Our GP was doing a phone around, this evening, asking patients to let her know how they would like to be treated, in the event of catching the coronavirus. Would they like to go to hospital, would they prefer to stay at home, would they want to be put on a ventilator etc or would they prefer to leave the decision until if and when it happens. I think it was, in part, a kind way of asking if a patient wanted a DNR tag on their notes. If the GP’s patients contract the coronavirus, it wouldn’t be her coming out but a doctor from an appointed Covid-19 group, so the GP wanted the patients’ notes to reflect the patients’ wishes. She seemed genuinely concerned that a doctor, who doesn’t know my wife and how well she has coped with her lung cancer, might read her notes and just write off her chances without doing too much to help. (She didn’t actually say that but it was implied). The GP actually likened my wife to Lazarus, which made us chuckle. Wifey has chosen the wait and see option.
Watching the news today and mr positive is having a not so positive day. I’ll be back to normal tomorrow I’m sure.
Do something you didn't do today. Tomorrows outcome is sure to be different. Even if that is just not watching any news!
My daughter got her make up out today and did my face Zombie style. Did a pretty good job tbf. I had a team video call shortly afterwards and joined the call as normal. Nobody said anything for at least 20 minutes, and then my boss tentatively asked me if I'd been unwell, and was I feeling better? I didn't explain anything, just said I was feeling fine. Next call, I'm going to wear my Rorschach mask and hat. I'm being furloughed next week but we are still going to do video calls weekly just so that we all stay in the loop. Am planning for a different look each week.
Seems like a little bit of truth is now starting to leak. But I want the fully story and the real figures. China has denied there has been a cover-up of the coronavirus outbreak in the country. The comments by Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian came hours after the death toll in Wuhan, where the virus first emerged, was revised upwards by 1,290 people. He said this was the result of a statistical review to ensure accuracy and that revisions are a common international practice, Reuters news agency reports.
I think we all want and need to know the truth, but we live in times where the truth is always the first victim. We’ve all seen how lies won the Brexit referendum. The same people that propagated those lies are now leading the country, during this crisis, and they will say anything to deflect blame, rather than take responsibility for errors. The media is corrupt and the majority of it will, when push comes to shove, fall into line and spin the “news” to suit the government narrative. Across the Atlantic Ocean, there is a similar issue and as I said a few days ago, Trump is like the little boy who cried wolf. He lies so often that when, at some point in the future, he states a very important truth, no one will believe him. I place our government in the same company as Trump. So, as much as we need to know the REAL truth, who can we rely on to deliver it, in a neutral way, without it being spun for political gain. Apologies for being political, but I don’t think the current crisis can be separated from politics.
But with this virus, the truth will out. Bodies will start pilling up. Families will weep in the street. All the countries that are spinning this are going to suffer more. All the countries pretending its okay now, will have to deal with their decisions down the road. The recent charts showing the slow down and the recovery. The celebrating of the virus's defeat. That there is a book mark for me. How insensitive to do that, but imagine lying and doing it.
Apologies not required St B, the inept handling of the situation needs constant scrutiny given the way questions at daily briefings are deflected and cut off. Let's not mention the badges. Oh I did. I read they had been rolled out a year ago to a less than lukewarm reception. Bloody bulls milk!
This is the way to go as far as I'm concerned a treatment to alleviate suffering and prevent death in infected patients. This whilst a vaccine is being developed to prevent the disease. An effective treatment would open the door to relaxing the lockdowns worldwide. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/17/world-biggest-drug-trial-covid-19-uk
A leading medical expert, Dr Anthony Costello, has been giving evidence and opinion to a select committee that Britain's response to the pandemic has been slow, and will result in the largest number of deaths throughout Europe. He didn't criticise those on the front-line, but made known his concerns of the delayed strategy to take measures to ensure the lock-down. Any country that has a national health service should have a strategy in place and ought to be able to react quickly. This isn't the USA [yet], which illustrates how a private health insurance medical system doesn't work sufficiently well in many situations, including this one.
Not watching the news is my number one strategy for staying sane. Half hour of Auntie Beeb a day is enough. Don’t even do that unless I know the government has something to announce.
Yeah but... but... what are the footballers doing to help people in need? Very pleased to see this. So much good work being done by players across several clubs, leagues and nations.
