There are a couple of other ex-PL teams down there - Swindon & Bradford. Plenty in League One too. There wasn't the money around then and no parashute payments. Perhaps it's an even bigger deal now because of the money - which is why you just can't relegate Villa when they still have 10 games to play.
Portsmouth, Blackpool, Sunderland and Bolton all got parachute payments, and two teams on that list have been in League Two in recent years and a third's about to drop into it
At this rate, the season may as well end with The Pic of DOOM You know the one I'm talking about... ...not to be confused with A Pic From Doom, which usually looks like this... please log in to view this image
It looks incressingly likely that this season will be played out to a finish sometime at the back end of this year and that next season might be foreshortened in some way - perhaps less games to be played in the league (each team playing the others only once?) , the League Cup being scrapped and a knockout CL format from the start, rather than having a group stage.
So we must complete this season...as it important to the legitimacy of the premier league and this will happen by bollocksing up next season How can you have a legitimate season when you do not play each team home and away ffs ... lets chuck away nearly 150 yrs of principle cos sky demand it
In preparation for the hand-wringers appalled at the thought of scrapping the Season Killer Cup...have you seen anyone in France upset that the Coupe de la Ligue will be killed off at the end of this season?
Danny Murphy on talksport 10 mins ago... "For the integrity of the league it must be finished...even if next season is shortened" "The only people calling for it to be abandoned (like West Ham's Owner) are doing it for selfish reasons." Interesting facts. 1. Danny Murphy played for Liverpool for years. 2. Danny Murphy is a life long Liverpool fan. 3. Danny Murphy DEFINITELY IS NOT being selfish. Interesting Question. 1. If the integrity of the league is too important to void it then WTF happens to league integrity next season when all relegation, EL, CL and Champions positions are decided when not every club plays each other twice? These morons are not even being challenged on the blatant contradictions that destroy their logic. Happy bog roll hunting guys
I've given up. Bought some kitchen roll yesterday. Got two bog rolls left before I have to use it. Fun times, man... fun times.
The largest fan bases trouser the largest revenues, a successful Pool means lots of happy fans and lots of subscribers.
Nice to dream, in the event of the season being “null and void”, each Prem club will have to forfeit £36m back to the tv companies...... so that’s you boys ****ed cos you can’t afford to pay your laundry ladies atm.... don’t take my word for it, ask @Spurlock and Dannyboy.
Yes and I’d be careful what you say because judging by the fact Danny and co can’t pay their back room staff, Spurs can’t be that far off from administration PNP ? The difference in class, between our owners and yours is very sobering..... Our ownership’s core business outside of football is airport duty free, so I would assume not much happening there either . Whereas yours is offshore hedge funds that stand to make billions from this wretched crisis ? We are continuing to pay our non-playing staff 100% from within the club and not exploiting government assistance measures for businesses likely to struggle to operate through the duration of the crisis ! So, mate you either accept your great club is struggling or your ownership are just exploiting the loopholes of govt assistance....... It really is that simple......... We’ll see how Danny reacts when the premier league announces the reported transfer embargo for the clubs who have been doing the same ? All the best and stay safe fella !
Yes? No, you didn't. Feel free to provide any proof to the contrary, though. The difference in class between our owners?! Ours uses a government scheme, while yours supports a military dictatorship after previously supporting the thieving, corrupt twat at City! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Power#Close_ties_to_various_Thai_governments
My view on our actions are clear but parts of your post are complete bollocks mate. Your club used receivership to avoid paying money owed to to local butchers, grocers, news agents, the east midlands Ambulance service (owed £16,000). 14 years after going into administration there were still calls for it to be repaid. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...WMAh6BAgFEAE&usg=AOvVaw2ChGEqvAeECEYvB7de4w0j The company that built the stadium lost the final payment of over £5m. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...WMAJ6BAgJEAE&usg=AOvVaw2fiK-zcze5NtRSBmVKqVx4 These were easy to find and as Mrs RCL's dad is Leicester I have had a lot of information from him about what went on.
The new stadium was built by Birse and was financed by Teachers an American finance and pension company. When Lcfc were relegated, because of the stadium loan and players wages etc they were forced into administration by the aforementioned Americans. Grant Thornton (the co handling administration ) and Gary Linekers consortium managed to negotiate a deal to finance the club and the stadium until a suitable buyer could be sought/found. Eventually an agreement was reached fo Teachers to take full ownership of the stadium and LCFC would pay rent for its use. With respect to Birse it was Teachers that withheld the final payment to them and not LCFC. With respect to butchers etc that I don’t know but like your father in law, I am born and bred in Leicester and haven’t heard anything like that at all though I wouldn’t argue your point in full as most other creditors were paid 30p in every pound owed which although not ideal was in someways compensated by Milan Mandaric and King Power respectively using those very same suppliers ever since. As for East Mids Ambulance Service again, I cannot argue the point but our current owners have financed Leicester’s local hospitals and good causes to the tune of £5million plus and counting ! https://www.thenational.ae/sport/fo...his-generosity-to-club-and-community-1.785192 https://www.lcfc.com/news/1654826/lcfc-statement-players-committed-to-future-vision/press-release
The link I added showed that the firm that built the stsdium had to write off £5.7m. If Leicester had not been so badly run at the time that would not have happened. And at no point have the been reimbursed...which you claimed they had when you wrote "Yes" in response to this question. I can make exactly the same point about the £16,000 owed to the ambulance service. Leicester have recieved hundreds of millions of pounds yet have never psid back that money even though you claim they did. Spurs owners have paid millions in supporting schemes in the local community. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...Vaw2Xgfz1icWt2ULTaFq1hct-&cshid=1586612476678 https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...Vaw2tq_36zkqsHBsCMr670nrX&cshid=1586612552705 https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://beta.charitycommission.gov.uk/charity-details/?regid=1113725&ved=2ahUKEwjRm9fGwODoAhUEXRUIHeL7Adg4ChAWMAN6BAgBEAE&usg=AOvVaw0-CTTFjWS4qbUT_MNAgdTz EVERY club should be doing these things to help their community...that is why many if not all of us are angry at the way the club sre treating the lowest paid club employees but for you to act like Leicester made good on their moment of shame is disengenuious. You remind me of Simon Jordan...he rightly criticises our owners but ignores the fact that his beloved Crystal Palace were put into receivership TWICE...once by himself By all means criticise but claiming your club acts with class is patently laughable... you sacked the manager who won the league title just 8 or 9 months later... not seeing the class in the non payment of debts or the treatment of Ranieri personally.
Joe Lewis and ENIC have nothing to do with offshore hedge funds. The decision to furlough the staff was stupid because Spurs have got higher net assets excluding players than any other club in the PL. Your current owners have done a good job though.
Oh ffs, managers live and die by results, Chelsea sacked Maurine twice, despite all what achieved at the Bridge !!...... what should we have done, waited to be relegated ! Claudio will always have the freedom of Leicester for his achievements (which in fairness, some of the credit should go to Nigel Pearson imho) and he certainly has the freedom of the KP stadium..... Lets see how long JM is at WHL eh ? Though to be fair Poch was kept on all those years without you winning **** all, I suppose it shows the differing aspirations of the two chairman but make no mistake Claudio was very well looked after.... ask your mate Google ? You really should have read what you copied/pasted beforehand.......... dear oh dear. Night, night and stay safe. Edit: We unfortunately sacked Claudio to avoid your previous comment , ie we stood by the likes of Peter Taylor and Ian Holloway for longer than we should resulting in relegation to the championship and league one respectively . You criticise us for being poorly run, then again criticise us for sacking a manager after a very poor run of results, which could of ended in relegation ? ****ing priceless hypocrisy
