Well said Kaits I was going to post something similar. I will criticise any government or opposition, institution or individual as and when I feel it warranted.
Cummings is a despicable little rat and hopefully this will mean the end of his influence The medical scientists need to lead this and they have their own geeks to crunch the numbers dispassionately with none of Cummings ethical inadequacies The NHS has to make life and death decisions every day that many of us would find impossible. Health provision can never be boundless
I chose the word leadership instead of government, because I was trying not to be political. . I really dont want to go back to arguing about political views - none of that matters. France include their nursing homes etc in their figures I believe, hence why I said we are the worst in Europe. Ours are still basic NHS figures, so we can extrapolate that it will be even worse here. The densely populate point is a good point which actually makes the leadership look worse We ARE densely populated, so even more reason to get ahead of the curve. Can you honestly look at the photos from Cheltenham festival and tell me that allowing public gatherings still was a good idea?
Public gatherings should have been closed down long before, but people of this country who still attending things like Cheltenham etc also need to take a long hard look in the mirror. A wide mirror if you’re Charlie. The people shouldn’t always need telling wtf to do, at every step - we could also individually take some form of responsibility!
I'm sure a good number of people were leading the way not waiting for a government proclamation. We and friends here in the Netherlands certainly were as was family in England. Me being 70 with some slight breathing problems had a bearing on our early precautions.
Holland has a higher population density than the UK. Most people in France, Italy and Spain live in apartments or densely packed villages and towns.
Might be useful. From April 10th 2020: please log in to view this image Incidentally, this is why South Korea is being generally praised for its response. They hugely reduced Covid 19 with their quick action. And given the population of China, they've done fairly well too. If you're going to have a lot of cases, at least faltten out the curve. The USA have done the wrong thing.
From what I read he went to hospital with heart problems of something and got tested whilst there to see what ward to put him on. Edit Richie beat me to it with the correct answer
No way on this Planet are The China Figures correct . I don't know what the correct ones are , But is ANYONE seriously going to try and tell me they are NOT massively greater than they are letting on ?
Saw an Express report on Facebook claiming that China may be experiencing a second surge of infections, that is causing concern.
Indeed not, but they can be criticised. The truth is somewhere in the middle of people's reactions. Why were certain countries, like the UK, slower to take action? Because it cost money to do so, plus potentially upset an economy. Incidentally, I would bet you could plot a reasonable graph based on the political stances [from full left to full right] of national governments and the speed of their response in taking measures to crack down on Covid 19. The governments that reacted quicker, with better measures based on expert advice, were more left leaning, and at the other end of the scale, those who made the game up as they went along and reacted according to how much it might cost the country in dollars and cents, might be more right wing leaning. What do you think? I'll look out for that graph. And before I'm volunteered, I'm still working, so it won't come from me.
Why is everyone so keen to disbelieve China? Their initial response might have been tardy, but there's no denying that when they did take action, that action was comprehensive and decisive.
Indeed, if they have opened up the "lockdown", too early, then infections can get going again. I understand Wuhan has been opened up. I know it's all strategic, but maybe it's a herd immunity strategy?
I just find it very very hard to Believe them . Don't forget it's still pretty much a Dictatorship IMHO . Don't get me wrong I hope they are real figures because it means less people have died than I think , I just don't believe them .
