Morning all. Dry and warm here this morning, so the gardening gear is back on. It is all very strange still and when I went outside I was reminded of the song the Sound of Silence. Many friends out here are finding the same thing. Despite living in rural areas it seems quieter than normal. Normal routines have gone out of the window which is rather strange as many of us never go that far from home anyway. Shopping I suspect is the key. The restrictions just make everything seem much harder than it really is. Anyway have a good day one and all, and stay safe. <ok>

I get the silence thing too. I take the dog out for a walk every day and marvel at the silence - all I can hear is birdsong, which, to be honest, is quite pleasant. No vehicles passing through the village, no other dogs barking, rarely ever see or hear other walkers. We live about half a mile from the sea and I can even hear the waves on the beach. Strange times.

Had an interesting trip to the supermarket, my first in several weeks, it was like being in a toyshop with as much money to spend as i wanted. I managed to get nearly all the food i need, mainly low carb products, plus some more comfort foods. I didnt buy a lot really but coming home i described feeling like I had a feeding frenzy.

When i went to the local shop last week it really felt like I was out foraging.. Some very y primal instincts activated. Interesting to observe them in my self.

Justgot back from a walk in the local woods with mme, and we both commented on the stillness and the simple sounds of nature. TBH I love it, am lucky to have a good companion in mme..

I am very much enjoying the return to more basic life rhythms.. Mindful too of the need to keep safe and well boundaried..

Morning all. Dry with the sun breaking through some light cloud, and we are now into tee shirt temperatures. Although there have been no high level aircraft for days now we have had some of the really large air transport planes going past at very much lower levels. Clearly the air bridge that was being talked about is now in full swing. A brief foray to get some bread and milk, then back to the gardening. A number of friends have said how their gardens are looking better than most years, and are enjoying sitting outside with books that they have been meaning to read for years, but never got round to. Not everything is bad. Have a good day whatever you can or must do. <ok>

    Afternoon All...
Keeping busy... Chores... Mrs Fez back from work, late lunch together... think she's working through to Saturday then taking a step back thereafter. Very wise, assuming it's not too late already. A couple of friends of friends have succumbed, beginning to get personal.
    Stay safe folks.

I must admit to being a bit of a lurker. I am a signed up member of the Watford Mailing List because it has loads of interesting information associated with it, although I think I have only made a comment twice in five years. It has a problem though. You can only talk about Watford FC, and wander off and you get wrapped over the knuckles. There has not been a single post on that site now for a week.
Today has been a pleasure as I have read all your posts, and they have ranged over all sorts of matters. A real grown up forum for grown up people. Yes there has been some WFC related matter, but so much more. At a time like this it is good to communicate with others. Apart from asking for a loaf of bread today I have only spoken to Mme. as I haven't seen any of the neighbours. That doesn't bother me greatly, but it has been good to read of your experiences and thoughts. So thanks a lot, I look forward to more of the same tomorrow.

    Morning, Dave; morning, all. :)

I think I’ve said this before, but all that I’ve typed above is the iPad’s predictive text! But it’s heartfelt, Dave (and ‘all’).

A morning of Computing for Matej and I - catching up on all the work his teachers have set. They are terrific for doing all they have done, but either they’ve set so much because they wanted to be sure they hadn’t underset, or, other kids are more slapdash. Matej has been working very hard but we need to get it all done.

Not sure what programming we have lined up today. I’ve been learning Python with him to try and help and encourage him. I used to programme computers decades ago, had a small computer company even, but I’m starting this from Scratch (that’s a Dad Joke for programmers :emoticon-0126-nerd:). I’ve written an FA Cup programme based on the board game ‘Wembley’, but mine has 128 teams (91 + Conference and top of Nat League Norf an’ Sarf). Still got teething problems (not akin to Luis Suarez) but I’m very close. It’s a straight knockout at the moment and works for the first few rounds, then goes a little haywire. Yesterday, Northampton Town started playing each other to death in the Sixth Round even though the variables prohibited this. <confused> I’ll try and sort that today.

I need to strim in the garden as well today. We have a 17’ Atco, known as ‘The Beast’, because it is a very powerful bugger. I have a scarifier attachment which I want to get to work on a mass of moss. You cannot miss the mass of moss. You muss not miss the mass of moss. It’s a mess. But I have to service the Atco, which is a big job. I have no excuse not to, the weather is fabulous. I’m hiding behind Matej’s work this morning, though. :bandit:

Stay safe, everyone. There was a thing on the BBC website about a computer model of a cough in a supermarket. It showed that the virus can spread for some distance (even over aisles!) and stays in the air for minutes. Mask on next visit to the supermarket.

    Have a good day. <ok>

Morning all. Another gloomy day up here. The blue sky & sunshine of 7:00am has descended into dark clouds...

I had my annual blood test last month and was given an appointment for today for a follow up test. Earlier this week I rang the surgery to query if such appointments were still going ahead - was told yes, but that I'd have to wait in the car park until they were ready for me, rather than the waiting room.

I've just received a call telling me that it's now cancelled & I'll be contacted in three months time - am now wondering what on earth has caused that...

Back to bed for a while methinks.

    Hi there

Who won in the Northampton vs Northampton game ? <whistle>

I have done one mow on our lawn.... sadly we have more and more moss these days... I have given up trying to kill it.

I saw the computer model.... freaked me out having been in the supermarket the day before!
