Cheers Guy. Don't know what happened first time I watched it. Must have accidentally moved the mouse over something; I often do that and wonder what happened <laugh>

It's a scary read isn't it Ron. I am thankful that my club have gone down the route of self financing. We did the "spend too much " thing a couple of years back and everyone knows what happened then. We have an owner who is prepared to back the club but not out of control. We have pretty decent gates for the lower leagues and the potential for much bigger ones now if we manage to go up a couple of notches. There are many clubs who cannot say anywhere near the same.

I think the average joe who supports a club knows that there is a limit and their club is probably sailing close to the wind. We all know there are going to be casualties after this is over.

It's more than scary it's absolute madness how on earth can you be spending nearly 3 times your income on wages, just think sack a manager pay up his contract, another manager comes in decides he does'nt fancy three or four of the first team on long term contracts, brings in another three or four on long term contracts, & so it goes on. On the Sunderland Till I Die on Netflix, according to the new owner Stuart Donald when they got relegated from the Championship their wage bill in the first division was going to be £34m.

Just finished reading an article in the mail Bournemouths income 88% comes from television, Watfords is 83%. Even Man Utd is 46% which when you look at the size of Man U & what cash they can generate is another stupid figure.

Under normal circumstances the outrageous expenditure wouldn't normally be a problem for a lot of these clubs. But, it's what the article makes clear that is the difference. The size of the bill is fine until the person funding it loses interest or their own business and can no longer do what they have encouraged the club to do. With this financial meltdown at the moment and the number of businesses that are going to fold the football world is waiting with baited breath. Financial fair play is and always has been a joke.

I know of Stewart Donald, as last year he sold his company Bridle Insurance Brokers to Finch Insurance Group who were my employers until I retired a few years ago. He also sold Eastleigh FC of the National League, and I believe possibly his 10% shareholding in Oxford Utd.
I don't know exactly how much he paid for Sunderland FC, but I read somewhere that he utilised substantial parachute payments that the Premier League were due to pay to the club, to finance the deal. He presumably hasn't got the wherewithal to continue financing such a big club so is desperately trying to sell.
Apparently, he is a decent person, but obviously "out of his depth" as far as owning the Mackems is concerned. Let's hope they can find new wealthy owners, as like everyone else they are struggling to get out of the first division. Having said all that, I hope both Pompey and Wycombe can gain promotion before them :)

**** me, I've been working hard today. Didn't stop until 9pm then sat down outside with a glass of wine pre dinner. It was a rather large glass. Just finished main course, with a some more wine. Feeling slightly light headed and in desperate need of an ice cream Mars bar and a cup of Tetleys. Should arrive any minute now. Might crash out after that.

Keep well everyone. We can beat this CV-19 ****

    Come on you Blues
