Down to price and available finance after Coronavirus, it's as simple as that, realistic affordable price and a sensible wage structure ,possible but at the moment logic says no.
Too many variables at this point in time, impossible to answer directly. If a minimal fee, with the rest of the fee over time, based on appearances yes, otherwise, on balance No.
Given the severity of his injury, I’m pretty sure City would be negotiating this down to nearer £3-4m with a sell on clause
Surely that was before the injury, if there is no flexibility on the fee then no. If we can pay part up front and the rest reliant on appearances then possibly yes dependant on medical advice.
One on each leg now, his first one has not come back to haunt him. Class striker him with Wells a frightening prospect for any team.
a reduced fee with extra "add ons" would maybe be more costly? Imagine WELLS and FAMMY kicking off then after 60 mins AFOBE with ? or ? and Wells and Fammy! or start with all 3 !!!!
If Afobe breaks down again before he reaches the agreed number of games it would be cheaper though John, that’s the point .
Perhaps on a ‘pay per game’ contract, or similar? Wonderful player when fit. Really clicked with Palmer too. Reminds me a bit of Steve Brooker - remember him? Different playing style but brilliant for the 1or 2 games he was fit every 2-3 months!!
well yes of course … but would be a difficult contract to negotiate they have a figure of say £6m so assumption has to be they need a payment up front … then an agreement on appearances, and how those appearances are governed … didn't a team a few backs have an agreement on appearances .. and when don't know which promo or relegation was avoided they didn't play him to avoid the final payment???
I can’t imagine we’d pay a large fee like £6m in the circumstances straight after a major injury like he’s had without some kind of clause in case he breaks down again .
