What a superb goal today from Erik Huseklepp to win the match. Could this be a "Pedro Mendes" moment - the start of a good run for PFC ? Let us hope it continues Tuesday night against The Posh What do you reckon ?
I wouldn't get carried away. It was a glimmer of brilliance in a pretty average performance which we should've drawn (and could have lost). It was good we upped the ante towards the end (as we should) but at the end of the day we still can't pass midfield and lack goals up front. On the other hand we don't let many goals in the other end (with the exception of WH) so it's swings and roundabouts i guess..
Good result for you guys today......maybe the start of your season. Anyway onwards and upwards as they say........
Agree with what you say 1898 - but I am not getting carried away, merely saying that a moment of brilliance like Erik's goal, could "kick start" our season, just like Pedro's goals against Man. City in the Premier League a few years ago, seemed to propel the team to safety when all appeared to be lost at the time.
I hope it can kickstart us! its just last week at hull really dented my optimism (and i'm usually really positive about pompey). Another win on tuesday and i'll start singing again
I think the person holding the camera in front of the telly may have already had a couple of celebratory sherberts, but kudos for uploading it
When you wrote about a Pedro Mendes" moment, the image I had in my mind was was of him out cold after what amounted to an assault by Ben(?) Thatcher! There ought to be different coloured card for things like that, which sent players off for the season. Anyway, good win, well done.
Pedro seemed to go through different emotions every time he played for us against Man. City, Channon. Firstly, the two superb goals he put past David James in the game I mentioned. Next, the vicious "assault" he suffered from Ben Thatcher, a forearm smash that would have graced the best wrestling match. Thirdly, the studs raked down the back of his calf by the other thug, that magnificent human being - Joey Barton, which from memory was followed by a cheeky wink and grin to Stuart Pearce on the Man. City bench.
