    The one down Chants ave, bridge end had a notice saying open from this tuesday going forward, i will be going early and getting mine on thursday.

    Fish, Chips and Mushy Peas. Maybe a breadcake if I can be arsed.

    Making it all myself, bar the chips. Use cider to make the batter, makes it fluffier and adds a crisper taste.

    I've never made batter with cider (always beer using a recipe provided by OLM quite some time ago). I'll give cider a try.

    About to make a bouillabaise with smoked salmon, haddock, cod, mussels & clams as we speak.
    That's if our son gets out of bed to scrub the mussels ! Catch 'em yourself ?

    Yeah, I'll catch 'em from the shop when they call me tomorrow. I fancy fish and chips this evening and will try cider in the batter.

    Missus normally uses Self raising flour for batter.

    Let me know how you get on. I used Somersby cider (I don't know what the equivalent is in Canada), but as a rough guide, sweet cider works better than dry.

    One can get Somersby here but I'll use a cider from BCs Okanagan Valley.

    Chippies open round here. Willerby taxis doing deliveries from them (I assume it’s delivery only, not sure)

    In North America a chippie or chippy is a prostitute. I wonder if I could get one delivered by taxi?

    A chiipy on Hessle road does curry with sultanas in :emoticon-0110-tongu. Large curry and chips .

    My preferences to accompany fish and chips are mushy peas, salt, malt vinegar and an English style pale ale (not too hoppy like North American brews). I have never tried curry sauce or gravy both sound wrong to me. That said, in Newfoundland the dish is cod and chips with dressing (like stuffing for fowl) and gravy. When I was in St. Johns I had the cod and chips which were brilliant but passed on the dressing and gravy.
