Since the season began there have been lots of comments on what Dave Jones did wrong and very little on what he achieved.
Now we have Malky in charge can folks start looking forward with some optimism? Consign DJ to the history books, warts and all. I'm seriously getting depressed with the negativity on this board when we're doing okay in the league with a new team still bedding in.

Sorry Taff - what negativity is that then?

Do you mean by discussing things on here that we think are not quite right, some are being negative?

Perhaps we should all sit back and post "KTF" on here with every post.

Well said Sparkey, interesting (and with great respect to Taff), how many people come on here, and pretty much tell you what you can and can`t discuss. I always feel that any topic is open to comment on without fear of it being not acceptable to some people. Dave Jones legacy should continue to be raised, in a fair way. He did well for us and was well paid, but you will always be aware that that with the likes of McCormack and Chopra going cheaply and the disgraceful way that the Mattthews affair was handled, we are entitled to comment.
I can remember that one poster demanded that Wales football team should never be discussed on the old 606. As far as I am concerned everthing is up for comment at all times!

I can see both sides, I agree that everything is and should be open to discussion no problem with that at all, but as the OP says the DJ era is over, and perhaps it's time to look to the future, I was A DJ fan, but he's gone and perhaps its time to move on <ok>

I'm not disagreeing with Taff over the need to look forward under Malky rather than back at the DJ era, and I didn't mean to suggest that was wrong.

I was referring to the "negativity" comment about posts on our current position. Having said that, it's sometimes necessary to look back at what has just passed to evaluate the best way forward. To do that, some might sound "negative".

    Hope that isn't too confusing!

I still want to discuss previous mangagers, and the good and the bad things they did. Bill Jones, George Swindin, Eddie May, and the great Jimmy Scoular, all up for further comment!

Sparkey, Debate on all managers is fair, the point I'm trying to make is posts which frequently take swipes at the previous manager. It puts a negative spin on comments which on there own are valid. I am not saying people can't post anything about previous managers but we are moving forward with Malky, why bring up the past?

    Muhammad, excellent input.

people are entitled to discuss DJ and the last few seasons here - doing so doesnt mean we are being negative and dwelling on the past <ok>

I have to add that I have not seen this board as being negative. To me it would be pointless to say we are going to get automatic and we have no problems. Not much point in having a forum then.

Well hows this for negative. The whole team apart from Mcnaughton were negative yesterday, and like i said on a different thread, if the entertainment value does not improve markedly over the next month or so then our crowds will plummit, and season ticket sales will also plummet, remember most of us renew in January. I know its a new team full of endeavour, however, there is very little flair and we only have Mcnaughton who can beat people for pace. Ive been watching the City for 40 years and i would like to think i know our fans pretty well, i do not want to go back to the days when there are only 8,000 or in some years considerably less than 8,000 diehards at the game.

The reason why its necessary to mention past seasons is posts like the above.

The squad was left in a right mess.

We are massively in debt and trying to rebuild on and off the pitch.

    What do people expect Barcelona???

Yesterday we were up against a side who have paid out huge transfer fees , we had 3 players injured 1st half , virtually played the last 30 minutes with 10 men and still more than matched them.

A commited team performance. Both sides cancelled each other out.

I am delighted with the team Malky is building and the way the players seem to play for the manager.

Think back to that shambles against Mboro. We dont have the attacking talent anymore but this team wouldnt have been thrashed 3-0.

    Patience is the key.

    Top 10 will be acceptable.

We do lack pace but Im sure Malky knows this. But if we havent the money then theres little we can do about this.

Most fans realise its been a major rebuilding job and will stick with the players and manager. The players are giving their all.

If the plastics want to do a disappearing act then thats up to them.

Great team effort yesterday. Not for the neutral but I enjoyed it and cant wait for Wednesday.

to be fair hilts the benchmark DJ set was 7th, 4th (?) and 4th in 3 seasons, so to start saying top 10 is acceptable will be seen as going backwards, now i know we had big players (on big money!) last season but any decent club should be looking to build upon past seasons, and that means finishing higher than last season. i suppose its a bit complicated with a new manager and several new players but i personally would be disappointed to finish outside the play offs, especially with the jacks in the premiership. brendan rogers got them up in his first season so why not us?

I think you have to accept that when you lose your entire squad at the end of a season, you are going to go backwards Swamp :)

I know all about our club etc etc etc. However we have no flair in the side, it just isnt very good to watch.

    We do have flair.

Whittingham is one of the best if not the best midfielder in the division. Plenty of flair.

What we need is an outlet.

    Some pace outwide.

We finished 4th but were not left with a side that finished 4th.

Mackay was left with a massive rebuilding job.

He is building the foundations. We are becoming hard to beat.

A few signings with pace and we will be very strong.

However it may be next season before we challenge again.

This is the beginning of a new era.

    Patience.

I must admit I enjoyed the battle on Sunday, a bit dour yes but said a lot about the team.

Sometimes you just have to be happy to stop the other side playing.
