Mine was 27th March. As a contractor I didn't get any redundancy and I don't qualify for any assistance other than Universal Credit. MrsS is in the same boat. Much belt-tightening ahead now and for the foreseeable future.
Exactly. Leading the country is a stressful job at the best of times, never mind in the midst of a global pandemic! Let Raab take the reins while he, hopefully, makes a full recovery.
That sucks too. I appreciate loads of people are having a tough time, it's just that my wife's situ came to a head today, so it's still pretty raw
That sucks woolstonian. I've known about mine for about 3 years now and it is a relief in fact rather than a worry for me. I appreciate that it is isn't for everyone. Good luck mate.
The guidelines clearly state that when deciding who to furlough, the laws of equality and discrimination still have to be followed. I would suggest that they haven’t done that, as she is being discriminated against, IMO. I would further suggest that she hasn’t been furloughed as a furloughed worker cannot undertake to do any work for the company placing the worker on furlough. If they are claiming money from the government for furloughing her, yet still asking her to do company work, that might constitute fraud, although I am no legal expert. Check it out on www.gov.uk.
Boris' whole performance in this reminds me of nothing more than one of those gentleman officers from WWI who decided that a little panache was all that was necessary to overcome all of that machine gun fire and barbed wire. He insisted on shaking hands in the hospital, which likely got him infected, insisted on continuing to keep a normal schedule in isolation, and is now insisting on continuing to lead while in the ICU. I hope he doesn't lose his life to it, and someone really ought to tell him that the virus doesn't particularly care about his displays of daring-do.
She hasn't been furloughed, she's been retained to continue working, however the company have used the Covid-19 induced business downturn to cut her wages with no consultation. If they can't afford to keep her working on her salary, they should have furloughed her but they chose not to.
Sorry, I misunderstood, but unless she is the only one capable of doing what she has been asked to do, you could query the process they followed when deciding not to offer her furlough. I don’t think they have a leg to stand on for reducing her wages without consultation and that must be a breach of contract. Good luck.
I know you can’t, but it would be nice to know what company your wife works for .....it would be good to name and shame ....but unfortunately not.
Being a "key worker" and fairly busy at the moment, our company have given us all an extra £25 a week bonus. The downside is payroll has already been done for 3 weeks but we will get it all back paid to the 23rd of March. It might not sound a lot but just keeping the country going is a bonus in itself.
Fortunately my firm is currently going through a consultation process with us. But that is what they are intending to do with us too. And it will almost certainly be the case. We might officially have the choice, but in reality we don't.
I'm not naming and shaming Richie, I know where that can lead. I am a devious bastard though so action will be taken if required. I've given up 6X though, in protest
Ossy posted this today at 2:15 AM. I checked the site, iffy to say the least but? A lucky shot or insider leaks?
RIA = Sputnik News in English, which is government-operated. It's a disinfo site...I'd guess coincidence, particularly as Boris hasn't been placed on a ventilator.
