I hope you and your loved ones are are safe and well. Please feel feel to contribute to the new thread I have posted - Whether Leeds deserve to be promoted if the season were to be terminated today. https://www.not606.com/threads/if-the-season-ends-today-do-leeds-deserve-to-get-promoted.383128/
its not so much whether you deserve promotion as whether there's a team which deserve relegation to make space for you. and with a large number of games still to play, there's not.
As things stand, a big yes. You deserve better than playing the likes of Millwall. Teams like Southampton, WHU, Newcastle, and Everton should be a regular fixture for the Elland Road club.
It's not about deserving, it's about reality. If the league is voided, there can't be promotions, relegation or champions. There's no way around it as far as I can tell
You don’t deserve promotion or relegation until you’ve won it. If the season hasn’t completed then nothing can be won or lost. If they can realistically complete the season before the start of next season then let’s go for it. Otherwise it should be null and void and start again 20/21 season.
When we’ve been doing well in 4th place around December how many times do we say “careful let’s not get carried away, the seasons not over yet”.
It is unfair either way unfortunately. Maybe there should be points awarded before a ball is kicked next season. Teams currently in; Promotion places: +9 Playoff places: +6 Rest of top half: +3 Bottom half: 0 Relegation places: -3 Just an idea. Anyway all the best whatever happens.
Your first sentence is spot on. There’s no simple solution here, and no way to be fair to everyone. Unless the season is played out to it’s conclusion, and even that will benefit some at the expense of others. Feel more sorry for Leeds, West Brom, and especially Coventry, than I do Liverpool tbh.
What's up with Liverpool? I don't understand the anti. With Arsenal, yes when they bought Walcott, the Ox and Chambers just as they started shaving, but we got good money from Liverpool, although in hindsight VVD and Mane were underpriced.
I’m not anti Liverpool. I just have more sympathy for Leeds and Coventry because of, well let’s call it Lower League solidarity. When you’ve been down yourself, you have more compassion for those who’ve really had to struggle. Coventry were nearly murdered by a hedge fund, Leeds had to put up with Ken Bates ffs.
I'm glad to hear that. But Spurs in the CL again, if this season is voided, has to be the biggest laugh!! Actually, I feel UEFA may well cancel next season's CL and EL because this CV business is not going to disappear quickly, and it would be more prudent to get the domestic leagues up and running again.
Yeah, I think we can forget CL until 2021/2 mate. Which means Liverpool will be European Champions for ages yet, so it’s a win for them too. Saints European ambitions will have to wait a bit longer
And Pompey's dream of Championship football has to wait even longer. Sorry if your coffee has suddenly gone bitter.
Although better news for my town team Dorchester who I’ve discovered are bottom of the same division I’ve been more of a Weymouth man since I’ve been here as I couldn’t take the tedium of watching Dorch Weymouth have a good and entertaining team even after the loss of their top scorer Brandon Goodship to Southend Only 7 miles away so hopefully that doesn’t make me a plastic
