I'm not quite following the point you are trying to make. In some posts it's like you're saying that you don't agree with cortese for not just giving le tiss free tickets, in other posts it's like you're saying that you don't agree with cortese denying le tiss' request for free tickets, and then in other posts it's like you're saying that you don't agree with cortese saying that le tiss has previously requested free tickets.

For what it's worth, my opinion hasn't changed. No-one has a right to free tickets. Whether or not le tiss actually ever requested them, it's impossible for us to ever know for certain. And thus forming views and opinions is pointless, and wrong.

I think that the seeds of this current animosity were sown back in the dark days of the summer of 2009. NC probably took exception to Matt's consortium gaining exclusivity to takeover the Saints and there is no denying that it wasn't helpful as regards to the precious time that was wasted before Marcus bought the club. Brendy is completely correct, there is no point in taking sides without knowing the full facts, but I will say that I find it slightly suprising that the Don chose the Sun (of all papers!) to air some dirty laundry. Nothing will ever tarnish my regard and memories of what Matt and Lawrie Mac did for the club I love and the same goes for NC.

I'll be honest, I don't care about the tickets!

What I care about (as my username suggests) is what MLT did for the Saints. He should always be remembered for that. In my eyes there has been no greater player to wear our No7 shirt.

BUT! Cortese is probably the best chairman we have ever had - and probably the best chairman in the Football League. He has guided us to the best football we have played in years through some really tough decisions. Remember, he persuaded Markus to buy us and he lost his friend. If we lost the friend that comes week in, week out to football with us, how would we feel? Now imagine that friend bought the club you have come to love and he died leaving you to make all those decisions on your own.

BOTH are wrong for airing their laundry in public, but MLT will always be my idol, and Cortese will still be my favourite chairman.

I will still worship both, and I find it sad that the two can't get together as the argument shows they are both Red & White all the way through. (MLT esp!)

Sorry about the rant but I love MLT and what he did, but I don't want his personal fights to try to derail what we have in the feel good factor that has lasted 2 years now!

    No7 ;)

Le Tiss will always be my hero but he needs to give it a rest before this ends up upsetting the mood at sfc. I suspect Cortese had it in for any of saints ex pros who were milking the freebies under previous management. Not because he does not respect our history but because he would have reviewed our finances with a fine tooth comb and come to a conclusion to change things in the best interest of the club. Who cares if Cortese is a monster, the guy has saved us, got us promoted, top of the championship and a vision we could only dream of 5 years ago. Le Tiss and Cortese need to man up and hug this out. Its handbags at ten paces.

There is no point taking sides. Draw a line under it and move on for the greater good of the club!

My father has been a season ticket holder for 32 years and given his support and commitment through thick and thin. He does not and would not ask for free tickets, Is his loyalty worth less than MLT?

I completely disagree with Jeff Stelling. MLT was no doubt a great player and due to this he obviously earnt a good amount of money. Why should he get everything free? Jeff Stelling has just made a fool out of himself and blown the situation completely out of proportion.
If MLT was such a great fan, he should be treated the SAME as every other great Saints fan that has stayed loyal to the club for years. That is the situation and MLT and Jeff Stelling should put up and shut up.

Today NC has been in the headline and has had mixed opinions with him.

I would like to state a few facts:

-NC - suggested to ML to buy the club.

-He was appointed by ML to run the club and carry Saints trough the 5 year plan to the Prem

-NC is a businessman and is treating the club like one, and rightly so!

    - We have stability, funds, a team, a manager and a massive backing!

I'm fed up of people saying that Cortese is in the wrong!

He has always had the clubs best interests at heart and will continue to do so.

Both aides of the story have probably changed, personally I think Le Tiss is more altered and I think people should give NC a break.

Le Tiss looked embarrassed when Stelling did that rant today and I think he only tweeter again due to a few idiots that like adding fuel to the dire.

We dot know the truth and we never well.

I read the NC interview today and I thought, 'Thank God we have someone like him at the top'!

Happy days for Saints fans, so give NC a break!

not being funny but I really don't get all the love that Cortese gets, its way OTT for me personally and I just don't understand it, yes he's been good but he can also be a twat or so we're led to believe

Exactly my point, there are repaired to the story, both have probably been altered.

Cortese is a businessman so will always act upon business-like decisions.

Le Tiss is a legend to so some fans so will always get backing from supporters so it is a split opinion.

Hopefully this will all get resolved, I thought a few months ago it had been resolved...

I swear I read somewhere last season that Le Tiss wanted free tickets to a game (not season tickets just a game) for him and his family but was told no. To be honest I think Nicola is a person you do not want to upset and when you have you will not be forgiven. That is a pure guess but sounds that way from the stories you hear.

I do not think you can question Nicola's drive and determination to drive Saints forward but it sounds like he can over react and is not the type of man to say sorry.

Personally as long as saints are doing well and are being run in the right way then as a fan I am happy.

Its kind of sad that MLT would want to tarnish all the fantastic memories that we have of him with a petty squabble over "perks" that he can well afford to pay for. I've been a Saints Fan through thick and thin since back in the Ted Bates era and I can honestly say that I've never felt better about the Club than since Marcus/Nicola took control.

Time to stop all this bloody nonsense about freebies Matty and get behind the Club.

Well let's turn it around and say... not being funny [because I'm certainly not laughing about it], but doesn't saving a club from almost certain extinction, by getting your best absurdly rich friend to buy the club, then not just overseeing, but actually moving, lock, stock and barrel to the UK, to run the club on a day to day basis. Then hauling the club sharply around its steep downward spiral to get it promoted, by appointing the right people, to get it there. Then realising that one or two weren't going to work out, so they had to go [Oldknow, Pardew, etc...]. Knowing that these actions weren't going to make him popular, but sometimes it's just necessary. Then deciding that the big investment plans for the Academy aren't ambitious enough, and re-writing them to be the best. Then, after plenty of good stuff down the last couple of years [JP Trophy, rumours of ambition, additional investment, etc...], we get some of the thoughts of our Chairman in print. We realise what we've merely suspected - this bloke is fighting our club's corner, really hard. We aren't rolling over. When the big clubs come, they pay, or they go away..! And now, any Saints fan of a couple of decades or more will tell you that what he is considering is nothing short of staggering..! And we know this guy is no bullsh***er. He means what he says - that's as rare as hen's teeth, in the world of football.

And you wonder what the love-in is all about..? You think he's merely been good..? Leon Crouch was good for donating the necessary money to replace that pathetic first statue, and keeping the club going aswell. That was good. Actually, it was bloody good, and I take my hat off to Crouch, for being there. What Cortese has done, and continues to do, is excellent, maybe even superb. Plus, if he's given the fans support, he could get Saints to achieve the phenomenal. He's planning ambition most of us haven't even dared to dream. If, what this club has been set on course to achieve, actually happens, it will top every single achievement, tingling moment or even landmark transfer, Saints have ever done. And you really wonder what the love-in is all about..?:)

I think it would be well for Matty, Lawrie and Nicola to quietly meet and clear the air. If they want what's best for the club, that's my advice and opinion. Nicola Cortese doesn't need to do anything, but it would be a nice gesture of faith if he lifted the phone. Then we can have an end to this distraction, that the media and the odd pundit are making far too much of, and the end to silly, ill-advised comments on Twitter.

Le Tiss was a great player for saints but so were others so where do you stop with free tickets for ex players, who makes decissions as to who were players eligable for freebies,,,? No Free tickets and may i point out these ex players were payed very handsomely while playing,,,far more than the fans earned so why give them free tickets ? Laurie Mac tried to stop free tickets for the youth coaches who gave there time free he came unstuck as they threaten to withdraw there time so he would be a huge hipocrite if he expected free tickets when if he had his way they were stopped in his time,,,Find it unbelievable that some so called fans are moaning about the chairman at the present time, maybe they want Lowe back and then the free tickets can be on offer again

We all just need to remember they are just human, and in life you will not like everyone you meet, and likewise everyone who meets you will not like you! So different opinions will divide people differently, its just a case of what you care to want to hear or believe
Matty could of fcuked things up good and proper when he was conned into fronting what was at best very poor take over bid! but he did it for the right reasons, the same goes for Nicola, I may not always like what they say and do but I shall always respect them for what they have done

One other thing didn't Lawrie Mc menemy make a small fortune when we were floated on the stock market with Lowes reverse take over?

From what I heard from someone who works at the ticket office is what happened was this

Matt wanted a box for the Man utd game and I believe he was willing to pay, but the rules for that game were you had to take another box ( or seat if you just wanted a seat for the Man U game) for another minor league game and Le tiss didn't want to, he just wanted the box for the Man U game, so was told that the same rules apply to him that apply to everyone else, and so he felt snubbed, quite wrongly in my opinion, as I've always hated one rule for one and a different one for another, so well done Saints for sticking to there guns. And for what its worth if I was an exsaints player that was a fan ( and could afford them) I would have a couple season tickets that I had paid for every year just so I could watch them when ever I could get the chance
