No. Too many people have joined this bandwagon yet forget that 99% of football players would suffer.

If the elite paid footballers wish to subsidise then good for them but they shouldn't be made to feel bad over what is a short career.

They have bills right? Like the rest of us, higher wage, greater the bills.

If players don’t then effectively we may see some clubs go bust.

It’s all a question of perspective. The likes of Aguerro could easily afford to do so but Matty Longstaff not so easily.

There should be no universal rule but each individual should do what their conscience tells them to do.

This is the right thing to do. But at the end of the day they are an employee just like anyone else. If they can’t do their job then they should be like the rest of us.

However they are being asked to stay fit and healthy ready for returning to work so it’s a weird one. Remember it hopefully is only for a few months anyways.

i would think anyone on 5k a week should be able to afford a sizeable temporary reduction tbh..do it case by case based on outgoings etc

In which case everyone should. Let's say everyone in the whole country give up the same %?

You going to go after Harry Styles? J.K. Rowling? Lewis Hamilton?

Problem is these footballers only have a ten year or so career then that's it. Factor in that when the season restarts they could get a career ending injury in the very first minute.

People should focus instead on the companies using loop holes to get out of paying proper tax. Amazon, Pret, Starbucks etc. Then look at others like Virgin who sued the NHS for over two million pounds just because they didn't get a contract.

I think everyone should do their own part. The worrying thing for me is what companies, businesses, clubs will be left when and if this all comes to an end.

Good shout really about the thousands upon thousands in this country who earn just as much as footballers and aren't expected to take a pay cut. They're just "working" from home, with I imagine a dramatically reduced output.

The stock markets are crashing, so I don't imagine those brokers are up to much. Ahem- cut please.

Alternately, allow them to keep their current wages and increase the tax % for the countries top earners by a significant margin for the time being. We have an NHS to pay for lads and ladies. :emoticon-0136-giggl

I'm sure the people who have enjoyed the excessively low tax rates of the British Isles for the past few years would be more than willing to contribute to the nation they love oh so much.

Taxes will go up after all this anyways and will probably be more tiered. The more you make the more etc.

I think after a couple of months the government will effectively make older people retire on a slightly better pension than currently on offer.

All people with at risk health problems the same.

The rest of us back to work as normal and we deal with the cases as and when they land. The temporary hospitals will remain to treat those of us who are in need. The ones who get poorly and recover self isolate for x amount of days. Then return to work knowing that they should be immune.

That is my simplistic view of it.

Or just make all companies pay the proper amount of tax and close all loop holes.

Also tell Richard Branson to duck off
