I hope to see footballers/ sportspersons and some members of the public give up spitting and clearing their noses all over the place. Kids watch this on tv and think it’s the norm.

I think things will be different even if it is for a degree of time. A lot of people are going to be affected financially and that will impact on their behaviour. I think you are right that businesses will struggle, and it has been estimated 20% of businesses will run out of cash, even with government support. It inevitable that taxes will probably have to go up to pay for the Virus implications, and this is going to put a lot of countries back financially for a long time to come.

When taxes do rise to pay the money back, expect them to stay that way permanently.

National insurance was brought in after the war as a temporary measure and its still here in 2020.

    As was Income tax

"Income tax was introduced into Great Britain by Prime Minister William Pitt the Younger in his budget of December 1798, to pay for weapons and equipment for the French Revolutionary War. Pitt's new graduated (progressive) income tax began at a levy of 2 old pence in the pound (1/120) on incomes over £60 (equivalent to £6,400 in 2019),[7] and increased up to a maximum of 2 shillings in the pound (10%) on incomes of over £200. Pitt hoped that the new income tax would raise £10 million a year, but actual receipts for 1799 totalled only a little over £6 million.
Pitt's income tax was levied from 1799 to 1802, when it was abolished by Henry Addington during the Peace of Amiens. Addington had taken over as prime minister in 1801, after Pitt's resignation over Catholic Emancipation. The income tax was reintroduced by Addington in 1803 when hostilities with France recommenced, but it was again abolished in 1816, one year after the Battle of Waterloo."

I think I’ll be done with football. Definitely cancelling all my Sky sports.

The greed in the game has increased beyond all decency but this last fee weeks have highlighted just how messed up it is.

    IMO.

Funny bloke he was. Known as three bottle Billie due to his love of port. He wasn't too keen on getting intimate with women, which led to the obvious bits of speculation.

My view is he wary because he was confused on what his son could possibly be called. William Pitt the even younger?

Just watched the news to find that the likes of Newcastle and Spurs are going to apply for government aid to pay their backroom staff. The ****ing money in football is obscene and the greedy ****s who play it are a disgrace.

Me and Mrs A watched this on Saturday. First time I'd seen it since (1982) my student days when we 'rented' one of those new video machines for a week. We had the choice of some tapes with the offer, one was The Holy Grail. Over a weekend influenced massively by many various substances, we repeatedly watched it. We belly laughed all weekend, seeing hilarious things in the background which you'd only see if you watched it a dozen times ( and probably stoned).
Nearly forty years later, and only moderate alcohol and Mrs A watching it for the first time, we were both still belly laughing. I was able to point out and rewind background things and you know what, still ****ing hilarious. Your 'bring out the dead' scene did bring up some sense of balance to where we at

Having not seen my daughter (she is 33, but still my baby and was back living at home) for a month due to quaranteening/ self isolating at bf's in Wakefield, she popped home today to pick up essentials, to enable her to carry out critical services.
She stayed in the front garden and we kept 2m apart. Placed essentials in no mans land. We actually had a coffee in the front garden, her travel mug and I used disposable gloves from her pack for home visits to make it. Beautiful 20 minutes. My god I've missed her.
We bid farewell. No hug or even within two metres of a reassuring pat or touch or any form of body contact, We are normally both very tactile. I had a 'few moments' afterwards.
Very normal family dynamics? It just made me realise just how ****ing tough this is going to be for so many.

    Also, how will society change?
Will people be so tactile? Will the French ever kiss cheeks again? Will the Italians embrace? Will LADS ever man hug so freely again? Will I ever embrace Denis again after a city goal (in Jan/Feb, he was full of cold/virus, spewed his **** all over me when we scored. Myself and Mrs A then had same virus. We have all later independently suggested we may have had an early dose of corona. Very similar symptoms? Hope so. Who knows? test test test)

And, will football ever be the same again? Maybe the long awaited premiership bubble is gonna burst ?

juventus players like ronaldo etc have taken a 4 month zero pay hiatus
barcelona players have taken a 70% paycut
infact almost all over europe players are taking pay cuts

bayern players are taking a 20% paycut and lewandowski donated 1 million euros
and union berlin, the hull city of germany
have completely stopped all wages for now for their players

could link you clubs all over europe where players are taking pay cuts to ensure all the non playing staff get paid
real madrid are so rich they can pay all the staff without players taking a paycut
its only the english team players doing nothing
    **** the premier league

100k week aint enough i cant cut my wage
    ****s

The PFA have written to all Premier League players, asking them not to accept wage reductions or deferrals, without speaking to the Union first.

Absolutely screw them for every penny it’s a contract and needs to be honoured. It’s a short career the tea lady can serve tea till she dies these poor lads need every penny now.
