There’s nothing in the rules that says you have to furlough all staff and there’s no stipulation remotely like what you’re suggesting there.

I haven’t really gone into the detail of this govt pay out to employees as I’m self employed and will get fack all from the govt as far as I can work out. Could PL football clubs tell the players that they’re not going to pay them and the poor bastards would have to make do with 2.5k a month?
I did read yesterday that, I think it was Bournemouth, players wanted to use some of their salary to help other club employees but were effectively told no by the PFA?
Employees have to agree to being furloughed. If an employee refuses to furlough, he can declare his contract null and void. Also means an employer can ‘sack’ an employee who refuses.
That’s not strictly true. The alternative to furlough for normal workers, is being laid off. So a worker could in theory refuse furlough, that guaranteed a minimum of 80% of their wage, in favour of being laid off with no pay, but you’d have to be pretty special to want to take that option. The difference with footballers, is that they have an asset value on the balance sheet. So a footballer could refuse furlough, and tell his employer that they’d have to lay him off if they wanted to save wages. The minute they lay them off, the player becomes a free agent and the asset value is lost. Hence why the PFA and no doubt the slimey agents are currently advising their players to accept nothing in terms of a reduced salary. Which makes the lot of them - ****s.
plus you can't really furlough players as furlough only pays out 2500 whereas a footballers is on 80x that at least
