I’ve decided to become a genetic engineer and release something that will finish what this lousy virus couldn’t, and have the whole planet to myself.

    This has puzzled me too.

It's as if the narcissistic, self-promoting, smug ubershites never got the email about degrees of ****itude.

    Strange days indeed.

    Most peculiar, mama.

There are a lot of positives in stepping off the treadmill and slowing everything down a bit, doing some contemplation on what you really enjoy and understanding your values and priorities in life. Some people will seek changes whilst others will value what they have more. But these are thoughts at the start of week 2, it would be interesting to revisit them if we are still locked down in 6 weeks.

As much as I don't want it to be this way, I think after about 8/12 months....everything and everyone will be back to how it was before. Everyone will claim to be changed etc etc but it won't last. Unemployment will go up once the government help stops, prices will go up once government help stops and once government help stops, taxes will go up to pay for all the help the government has given out during all this.

    I hope I'm wrong.

    Glad she’s on the mend
Teachers are doing an amazing job and I suspect are second only to health workers in terms of risk

People serving us in any kind of shop need a mention as well Den. You run out of essentials and they're there to serve us.

    Thanks for that.

Yes they are doing an amazing job. She teaches many nationalities. How do you tell a young child not to hug the teacher at that age? My daughter says they just run up to her all the time, especially after holidays.

So true mate. I'm in the farming and growing industry, we are really struggling for people atm. We lost 25% of our staff already due to self isolation ect. If we don't stay on top of our crops we will lose them.

Many many industries keeping the country going atm.

I was only thinking yesterday about the guys and gals keeping it power supplies going. Like you say Kemp's all the staff keeping the shops open are amazing especially when you get the idiots and twats having a go at them because they can't have more than two tins of beans.

Sadly, an estimate of 47 million unemployed as a result of the shutdown will probably see plenty of destroyed families and suicides rising, as was seen after the financial crisis. There probably has to be a serious debate as to how many elderly people have been 'saved' by the world lock down against how many will die from suicide and neglect as a result of the crash in the economy.
