Not a bad game so far - looks a much better standard than the other game. Ive done Bate to win and both teams to score @ 11/2
So if pl doesn’t finish by July 1st they will lose 750m in broadcaster payments and will impact all clubs apparently especially the ones further up the table as payments are scaled. Can’t see there being a chance in hell of finishing anything remotely near that date
So here's my simplistic take on it (and yes I'm biased). There are 9 games left to play, that could be done in 1 month, whenever that will be. The can will be kicked down the road for as long as is necessary. What would be the point in calling the current season null and void and then it happens that the next season can't start because the virus is still hanging around like a bad smell. It could be next January before we get the all clear, they won't be starting a new season then! I don't think any decision will be made for a good while yet.
If it is next January before we get the all clear, all bar the teams in the PL will have gone bust!!! Probably a few in it too.
Are you sure about that? How many PL teams make a profit each year? They are facing losing a lot of anticipated money in the form of gate receipts & associated stadium sales, commercial sales (tops etc.), & most importantly, Sky money that looks like it ain't going to happen. The longer this prolongs, you might even get sponsors pro-rating. I think our club demonstrated clearly when we went into meltdown that PL players are a shower of greedy basturds who will insist on being paid every penny owed to them, no matter the circumstances. If anything, PL clubs may be under more pressure than EFL clubs. Zero cash coming in is a great leveller.
Another thought: wonder if the current circumstance will have the FA restructuring the league calendar to align with the Qatar WC in the winter of 2022? Might be a positive in the midst of a disaster.
That's pressuming that they can make a vaccine. Still so much uncertainty. Are you immune once you've had it, or will it be like a cold where you can catch it all the time. Is this going to terrorise us for years, even decades? Several scientists are predicting at least 6 months of this, I worry that it may be far worse.
It's a virus and so it will change over time but it appears to be changing at a slower rate than influenza and so a single shot vaccine could be effective for quite a while. https://hub.jhu.edu/2020/03/30/covid-19-gene-sequencing/
It seems to be very erratic. Chinese researchers infected 4 monkeys, once they had recovered there were traces still in their blood which implies they were building up an immunity. They then reinfected all 4 again, 3 of them were immune but the other caught it again. There are 3 known cases in China and 2 in Japan of reinfection.
The Premier League is owned by its 20 member clubs and has £2billion in reserve. If push came to shove, they could give £100M to each club and say fook the rest of you
This is some research, reported in a newspaper. Monkeys appear to be able to develop immunity and the research also shows that monkeys can be infected through their eyes. On first reading it doesn't say that the monkeys were able to be re-infected. https://www.scmp.com/news/china/soc...us-vaccine-rise-after-chinese-scientists-find
If they have, post Brexit it will be invalid. To be serious, you’d think they would have wouldn’t you?
