I actually want the season to be concluded for the club's involved in CL and promotion scrap, plus relegation should be sorted. Liverpool winning the title is of little importance, we've already won it whether it's officially concluded or not.
I want the season to be concluded so we can start forgetting about this damn Pandemic. But sadly, its not going anywhere quickly. This season is toast.
The season being cancelled is ludicrous Sheer insanity Could not give a stuff about the prem atm It’s every level Right down to grass roots In 18/24 months the league is going to be completely re scheduled due to quatar World Cup So finish this season - whenever it is safe to do so Then start the next one with quatar in mind Really simple I believe Wayne Rooney made the same mind blowingly simple solution I realise people will start banging on about contracts and **** but that is the same for television contracts and **** conversely Sixty-six non-league clubs have sent an open letter to the Football Association, calling for it to "urgently" reconsider the decision to expunge their seasons. So I am not the only one that feels this way So finish the season at every level then move on
So basically instead of having one ****ed up season now (the Qatar World Cup has already been planned for and factored in) you would rather have 3 ****ed up seasons?
Yes As they wouldn’t be ****ed up only one would be the others would be planned You and many others find it highly amusing that this could happen I will reiterate I do not care about the prem atm - that is for a different day The Prem teams will survive absolutely no issues This is far far bigger in the world of football I am heavily involved in grassroots and the effect this is having lower down is massive I am seeing clubs in major crisis - league matters have to be resolved it’s that simple Does not matter when - what if the issues continue to next Feb? We can just carry on - no guarantee that the season kicks off in September so until a date is issued right through why cancel. The only reasons people have for want this are not for the good of the game end of
I couldn't agree more. The FA will have to write up a new rule for their handbook to cover this type of situation. Imagine how you would motivate players, coaches and supporters by that rule saying the answer is to give in and pretend the season never existed. The game would lose all it's integrity. Everybody involved in football would think what's the point of all the effort for maybe it not counting for anything. If we were the only FA doing this, because there doesn't have to be any international agreement on domestic issues, we'd never get the best foreign players coming here and our own best players would be looking to go to a country with a bit more ambition. Any rule being written in should break down eg. a season into quarters and say what will happen going forward. Complete void not even being a possibility. We have far more pressing issues atm like how to keep as many people as possible free from a deadly virus. But the crisis will be over and we will resume playing sports again. We have to learn how to work around the virus not cancel the world and give in and give up. Two world wars firmed our resolve and football found a way to survive while maintaining sportsmanship. Those saying give up now are showing they don't understand what sport is all about. In short it's about being sporting and fighting for something that you consider worthwhile being engaged in or with in the first place. Life is far more important. Let's keep ourselves and each other safe by staying home. When it's safe to do so let football continue by finishing what was started which is a very good lesson for life in general.
Many of the people complaing that football has been ruined because VAR sometimes makes you wait 20 seconds to know if you can celebrate a goal are now proposing that you should have to wait 7 months to know if you can celebrate winning a game that might end up voided
Oh for a return to the days of arguing about VAR We're often told that it's not about winning or losing it's about taking part, usually something told to children to get them to take part until they are old enough and have acquired the intellectual capacity to handle the actual winning and the losing. As adults you learn very quickly that sport is all about winners and losers. The stark contrast between the two comes out at times like this by how people act and in what they say.
Latest rumour coming out of FA is the season will be played out behind closed doors and concluded by 31/7/20 to avoid the Prem having to pay back £760m to the TV companies. We wait and see, but I think any decision taken will be based on financial concerns rather than anything else
Yep and that is the saddest part of it all Think I read somewhere that there was a semi pro team ? In cornwall - truro who have won loads of games for it all to be voided Luckily 66 clubs in the national league are grouping together and I pray for common sense to prevail....
I've avoided talking about finances but if one good thing comes out from this crisis regarding football and money hopefully it will be that fees are recalibrated and we will no longer see outrageous sums being paid for players.
66 potential court cases, and they haven't even got to the football teams who actually have money yet.
Club finances are all going to take a hit. Coupled with the uncertainty surrounding the game atm nobody is going to be paying £100m for a player who won't be getting you European football, for example, because there's none to be had. Investing in expensive assets doesn't make too much sense just yet when nobody can predict how the game will go. Players will still be bought and sold but with more caution for a while yet.
Do you really think there will be any effect whatsoever on the motivation of teams next season to succeed if this season has to be written off due to an unprecedented global crisis? I can’t see anyone all of a sudden not caring because of a once in a life time disruption to one season. I also don’t get the integrity argument. Why does the competition lose integrity by being cancelled any more than it loses integrity by having a 6 month gap in the season and playing out the end without proper pre-season, potentially no fans watching, potentially different playing staff due to the transfer window etc... As far as I can see this season is ****ed either way.
