The big risk is ending it too soon, as we may end up back at square one (or worse, when everyone goes back out to see friends/family, goes to the pub, work, etc...). People would also be bored of confinement and less willing to follow orders.

Best thing to do is wait for no new cases for a week or so then gradually send people back to work.

A stocktake took place in Northern Ireland of what PPE equipment they had and needed.

Internal stock checks issued on Wednesday by the region’s health service listed item after item of personal protective equipment (PPE) as “out of stock”, including respirator masks, eye protection and basic hygiene products.

Of the 33 Covid-19 “affected products” listed on the leaked Northern Ireland document, 32 items were marked “out of stock”, with one kind of protective clothing marked “critically low in stock”.

Not surprisingly the government tried to keep this out of the public domain.

I hope this link works - found on the Quora site, it's an interesting answer to the question "Why do Taiwan and Vietnam have much lower numbers of coronavirus cases than other countries in Asia?" The guy who wrote it seems less than impressed with the UK government.

The collapse in oil prices could be massively helpful to countries as they struggle to return to normal. It will however, be most unhelpful to the SNP's already fanciful projected earnings from the North Sea.

Apparently the death figures tomorrow will include those who have sadly died at home.

Sad to think some would have died suffering without even being able to get to hospital.

Would have been a painful death battling to breathe and having a very bad cough.

As usual, you read something on here that doesn't idolise the Tories and you throw a dig at the country the poster is living in.

It's f****** pathetic. I hope you're enjoying ruining this forum for everyone else <doh>

I thought the extremely low barrel price of oil would really please those against fracking. It makes it completely unviable. Hopefully this low price filters through to the pumps a.s.a.p.

Looks as if you are in New Zealand and want to get back to the UK you might have quite a wait.

The government has conceded it will not be able to repatriate thousands of Britons stranded in New Zealand for some time after a telephone call between Dominic Raab and the country’s foreign minister Winston Peters.

If that was responding to who I think it is, and the dig was at me, I wouldn't worry - he's still on my ignore list.

I'm surprised he's not on everyone else's really.

It appeared about 30secs after your post. Must be a coincidence that he chose to post about Scotland straight after your post...

I tried the ignore option but it makes the forum unreadable. Definitely not implying that his 'contributions' make it any better, it just means that the replies make sense <laugh>

I may be totally wrong, but this snapshot, taken five minutes ago on flightradar24.com, may highlight the problem in USA.

I did see a couple of pictures taken over Europe for aircraft movement, one before the lockdown and one after. The difference was quite dramatic, with very few movements afterwards. It is little wonder that the air quality has improved.

Looking at Raab on show tonight I think that we have seen that as he talked about repatriating UK nationals that he might now realise that on your own your are very much weaker than when you cooperate with other countries. Germany has been offering seats to UK nationals on their aircraft to get them home free of charge. Raab still talks about cost for the passengers.
We also had it confirmed that the statistics on deaths are not up to date, and that the rate of testing NHS staff hadn't met the figures that we were told would happen.
The happy clapping I love Boris brigade should be feeling pretty sick tonight, but somehow I doubt it.

There were reports today that some police forces were saying that shops couldn't sell them as they were not essential food items. Seems that they have been corrected.
