Having players at a club s long time is not a problem...not having new blood and the new ideas and energy they bring in is an issue...as our decline shows.
At this moment I'd rather keep him and give him the benefit of the doubt to prove his fitness. Talent-wise he's one of the best I've seen, genuinely ridiculous how talented he is and so if this regime he's been put on by Jose works, then we'll see an unbelievable footballer for this club that could rival Modric in regards to the best CM I've seen at Tottenham in my lifetime. However, if Barca/ PSG did offer what we paid (or more) then I wouldn't blame Jose/ Levy if they chose to accept. Sometimes a risk is too much and even though he could well be worth £150m+ in a couple years and elevate the club to a new level if he sorted his fitness, he could equally be worth £6m if he still walks around like a fatty and only plays a maximum of 40 mins here and there. So yeah, would prefer to keep at the moment but wouldn't be too bothered if we could sell and immediately get our money back.
I think about 1-2 differences over each season is about right so 7 or 8 over 5 seasons. The team you showed that played against City includes a number of players who have started a lot this season but only due to injuries. I don't think all of Toby, Jan, Davies, Lamela and Dier would be in our starting XI and Dembele and Rose defintely were back then. So our seven new players would be Aurier, Sanchez, Davies, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Winks and Sissoko if you compared the realistic first elevens. We've also added Tanganga, Sessegnon, Skipp, Gelson, Lucas and Bergwijn to the squad over that period. So we've turned over half the squad. The reason for the decline isn't lack of transfers....it is the players at their peak in 2015 were absurdly good for what we paid for them.
I'm broadly with you on this, if someone slapped 80m down for NDombele then I'd be sorely tempted - that's Aarons and probably a very decent chunk of 'New DM' sorted from one sale. But I would love to see him get fit and smash it with us too for all the reasons you outline. Ultimately if a bid came in it would have to be judged on the amount of money on offer and how we judge his fitness after months of this 'global fitness program' and the effort we would hope he's putting in to get in good shape during this virus period.
Am I wrong did not Jose say NDombele was fit? If it's fitness then why sell him but I understood from what Jose was saying it was attitude NOT fitness.
Depends which outfit is reporting it The Atlantic's version is the club has paid for a personal trainer and a specialised chef for Ndombele, so I think we know which one is firmly into "complete bollocks" territory
It's remarkable just how often The Atlantic's take on anything is proven to be utter crap The sad thing is that so many of the Reddit crowd seem to believe that they're Tier 2 (i.e. the only thing more credible is something on the club's website/social media feeds) when, in reality, they're little more than clickbait behind a paywall - but because they're behind a paywall, the Reddit crowd use them as a source to flex that they've paying for the forbidden knowledge
In my defence, The Atlantic does currently have an article titled "Spreading the Coronavirus to Own the Libs" on their front page, so it's not that difficult to confuse one ****ehawk organ for another...
There was also talk that he was ''enjoying' London too much. Particular areas of the disliked colour.
Lille Bring & Buy Sale Watch BuzzSport... ...oh ****ing hell, we're using BuzzFeed for transfer rumours now? Anyway, they're linking us with Lille rightft back Zeki Celik In other words, they ticked off three tropes in one story: a right back, a Lille player, and a Turk...
HBIC you don't have to defend yourself for me. We are different generations so that half the time I don't know what you are talking about and it's probably similar for you when I post my music
Ditto. Glad I'm not the only one! (no offence HBIC but I often cannot make head or tail of some posts! Your knowledge though, especially of foreign teams/players is mindblowing).
I'll freely admit that Levy is a cheapskate if I'm hired as DoF this summer ...now where did I leave my Dutch phrasebook?
