Surely the PL has a basic rule along the lines that the team that has accumulated the most points having played all the other PL teams, home and away, will be declared PL Champions. To abandon the season now and award Liverpool the title on the basis of current standings, especially while it is still mathematically possible for another team to overtake them, (and the same in terms of relegation battles) would result in years of legal wrangles with other clubs at both ends of the table. In my view the PL have no option but to declare the current season void and to start from scratch again in August.

The CL and EL eligibility for 2020/21 competition is a more difficult question.

If we can't complete the domestic season in early summer then yes, no choice but to write this one off.

It's not just Liverpool it affects of course, we'd not be able to attain fourth for instance. Which leaves us back in the Europa league. If City remained banned, it's Arsenal who'd get the 4th spot, which leaves Arsenal and Spurs back in the CL with zero justification.

Best hope all round is the season is completed early summer and if that means Liverpool are champions, deservedly, so be it.

I couldn't really give a **** about Liverpool tbh, I would much rather we have the chance to finish Top 4. Our performances have built momentum and there's definitely a confidence about the team which hasn't been there since Fergie left. In fact I'm gutted we won't have a chance at silverware in the Europy and FA Cup as we're in the Quarter Finals for both. Whatever happens United are set to miss out more than most other clubs (with the exception of the poor sods who will likely go bankrupt).

On the plus side, by the time the season resumes Rashford may be fit to return (and who knows, dare I say Pogba). Every cloud eh...

At this point, it is far easier to nullify the league year than to find a solution. Liverpool will obviously argue that the league is or less won, but the cascading effect of handling Liverpool the title will affect far more teams than if the season is either completed somehow behind closed doors or nullify the whole thing.

Relegation threatened teams will forever argue that they still have a chance of survival, same for those fighting for promotion down the league chain. But as things stand, we will all be on lockdown for at least seven more weeks depending on how the virus holds. Players are always suggesting that they wouldn’t play behind closed doors.

Theoretically speaking, had Liverpool been crowded the champion, the decision for the league would have been more difficult because you can’t crown a champion then take it back due to no fault of their own. But for now, all options are on the table.

Quite right, you can't give somebody something they haven't won and you can't take a way someones status if they haven't lost it (relegation).
Just as importantly (for me at least) you can't let this ****ed up season impact on next season. We need to have a proper break, transfer window and pre-season or **** just keeps getting pushed further into the future, we will already be facing another **** show with the Qatar World Cup.

Impact on next season! That is the biggest decision factor. If this drags on until mid May, they must draw a line. You can’t expect players to play ten matches in two weeks. Best option is frankly to annul the season if we lose six weeks or more to the virus.

“The Premier League says it wants a 30% cut in players' wages in order to "protect employment throughout the professional game".

The PFA says the proposal would be "detrimental to our NHS" as it would equate to more than £500m in wage reductions over 12 months, and a loss in tax contributions of more than £200m to the UK government.”

What do you guys think of this argument on wage reduction?

I am 100% in for reducing their wage by 30%. I don’t think the PFA understands what’s at stake. I’m sure the rich clubs will survive this lockdown, but many of the other clubs barely get by. And to reference the charity work that players do to make a strong argument for the players is pretty stupid in my opinion.

Pay should be reduced, they'd still pay plenty tax.

Reading my earlier post now I'm not sure how much enthusiasm I have left for the remaining games, but seeing as we have fixture dates for the PL and the FA Cup I want to look forward to them. Fck knows what's happening to the Europy as I haven't really bothered checking.

Anyway here's the dates for the next few games:

Spurs vs United - 19th June (PL)
United vs Sheff Utd - 24th June (PL)
----------------------------------------------- Norwich vs United - 27th June (FA Cup Q/F)
Brighton vs United - 30th June (PL)
    United vs Bournemouth (PL)
    Villa vs United (PL)
    United vs Southampton (PL)
    Palace vs United (PL)
    United vs West Ham (PL)
    Leicester vs United (PL)

What are people's expectations or hopes for the rest of the season. I'm going to say 12 games - top 4 and the FA Cup is something to aim at.

So United played in two warm-up friendlies against West Brom. Lost one 2-1 and the won the other 3-1. The big news being Fernandes and Pogba played together, with Rashford and Martial up front.

Looking forward more and more to the first match against Spuds, if only to see how they play together. On paper whets the appetite.

Showing the highlights of the second game on the United website, Rashford looks really sharp.

Will definitely be interesting how we start up again.

Got this feeling we'll do well and secure 4th anyway, nothing more than hunch and that the rest will have them firing. Could be completely wrong of course!

This idea of winning the FA Cup without crowds is less appealing though. The FA cup needs the final to be something worth playing for. What are they planning to do, play it at an empty Wembley?

    Just seems daft.

I think so but no details as yet. It won't be the same. Might as well play it at Villa Park as much as Wembley without the crowds.

No news on the Europy either but all the talk is it's going to happen.

Probs a knockout comp in one location. That would be interesting to be fair.

Still **** without crowds but not on the same scale as the FA Cup.
