There is a lot of genuine anxiety about now. I’m already doing some shopping for an lady in her late sixties round the corner who is fit but lives alone and is just too nervous to go into town. My wife said that she felt uncomfortable and nervy in town yesterday (and she only stopped going into the office on Tuesday) and our next door neighbour said the same. Long term exposure to even low level anxiety will **** people up.

My personal stress levels have just gone through the roof with the realisation that I will have to find somewhere to put a treadmill, doubtless assemble it myself (with free extreme swearing) and then be expected to use it, all in the knowledge that in six months time it will be an abandoned lump of metal in the already overcrowded garage.

There is no organisational learning in this household. As a whole variety of expensive unused gadgets testifies. But at least most of them can be stored in the loft.

Haha. I’ve dusted off my exercise bike and trying to do 20km a day. So far so good. Walked the poor dog half to death too.

Ordered a bench, two adjustable dumbbells and some other gear from Sports Direct before the gyms closed as I didn’t want to use mine and could see it coming. Useless ****s cancelled the bench so I got a cheap one on ebay which is fantastic. The rest of the stuff from Mike Ashley hasn’t turned up still but it’s a lovely bench with nothing to lift on it.

That’s cheered me up, the treadmill was ordered from House of Fraser, which is now a branch of Sports Direct......might not come.

Found that out during the week, 5.45am at Tesco in Purley already over 100 queueing. Got enough for a week or so but have since found a couple of small local shops with most basics not overpriced maybe 10% higher so I'll stick with them. Also found that local Sainsburys after the locusts have struck usually still has most salad products so that does me nicely...

I’ve not used a gym in about 3 years, preferring instead to work out at home. Body weight exercises, press ups, pull ups, lunges etc and one dumbbell covers me top to toe. In the past I’ve been a 5 or 6 times a week kind of guy, but I’ve not had a day off now since October/November last year. I know it’s probably detrimental to my progress not to have days off, but I’m obsessed with working out and feeling strong, mainly so that when 4 blokes try and jump me and stuff me in their government Range Rover, I can take them out.

    Serious offer for anyone.

If they are absolutely desperate for anything, for themselves of elderly relatives, from next week, as NHS, I’m able to get into a few places like Tesco, Iceland, Sainsbury’s etc 1 hour earlier to get stuff. Happy to help out but obviously there’s a limit to what I’m allowed, sorting out my own old ‘uns and you’d have to collect from Staines.

For similar reasons I’ve upped the exercise over the last few years, and have been trying to do the gym every other day for the last 3 months. Mostly cardio, tiny bit of dumbbells, ironically never using the treadmill which I now apparently possess, just elliptical, stairs, bike. Stopped going last weekend, dog is getting a severe workout. I’m doing the Dr Michael Moseley High intensity exercises for chaps about my age, takes ten minutes a day (including the rests between the minute long exercises). If I get a couple of dumbbells, this workout, the dog walking and some stints on the treadmill might even allow me to cancel the gym membership (though to be fair to them had a message this morning saying that they won’t be taking any fees, and are organising online exercise at home sessions through their app).

Just had an appropriately socially distanced chat with a GP friend who lives around the corner. She was saying that they have had people trying to force their way into the surgery with symptoms even though there is loads of signage asking them not to. She reckons there are loads of cases out there, and is quite keen to get it herself as soon as possible (oddly reassuring) but so far only one of the ITU beds at our local hospital is occupied by a patient with the virus.

Also irritatingly, her husband was in our local at the exact right moment to be offered a barrel of beer that was opened and would have gone off due to the closure. 30 pints for nowt! Why wasn’t I there?!

So I live in a small village in Cornwall, Cornwall is just over 1,300 square miles and a population of over half a million people BUT we only have one main hospital! So why has the Tamar Bridge been full of caravans and camper vans coming here this weekend? Do they really think self isolating here is better for them? Selfish twats!!!

Also, took dog for walk this afternoon, I live in a village of only 40ish houses one of the old girls form the village walking towards me. I cross the road so we have distance, she crosses too to talk to me! Do old people not get Social Distancing!

Think I will just get pissed too!

    Stay safe everyone
