I said it wouldn’t be a popular thing to say <laugh>

Regardless of any of the stuff you’ve said he really pushed hard to improve technology in the NHS, which was what brb was talking about.

What government have done today is pretty much what I suggested a couple of days ago and I have made no criticism other than to highlight the bollocks being spouted previously about the country having no money to help the poor and needy.

So I do not see myself as a hypocrite.

So what is it to be ?
The Government have claimed that the NHS is the best I the world !
They have also said we need to fix our broken NHS !
I think fix our nhs is an excuse to accelerate privatisation !
Health care should never be for profit !

I think it's less to do with their competence and more to do with GPs having their hands tied by financial constraints. So when you go in showing symptoms of a potential serious illness they'll do a graduated response which is the cheaper approach, to rule out each lesser illness stage by stage. The problem with that is, by the time the actual ailment is identified it's not because the graduated response has worked, it's because the symptoms are so severe the investigation they should've done earlier needs to be done and then the correct diagnosis is identified. I've seen it happen 3 times with people very close to me. All with cancer.

I'm not knocking the NHS btw, and I'm not expecting the NHS to be perfect. Once the correct diagnosis is made the consultants, surgeons etc do the very best they can but they aren't Gods and they can't save us all. You have to expect that. But I think the speed of diagnosis is one area which is in their control and if we can address that it would make a big difference.

I'm quietly enjoying watching a Tory government embrace socialism and nationalise wages.

Just wish it wasn't in these circumstances.

I appreciate that is your experience and respect that. It's just not been my experience and I can't say from other cases that I know that I've seen GP's trying to watch the financial restraints. Maybe it comes down to individual practises and geography, I honestly don't know.

Not sure I’d call using extreme measures to try and prevent economic collapse during an unprecedented health and economic crisis, embracing socialism.

I have never had a particularly high opinion of Boris Johnson, and it didn’t take long for his bungling Ealing Comedy routine to start grating with me.

But I’m happy to give him the benefit of the doubt for now. He’s our elected leader (I didn’t vote for him but plenty did), and people need leaders. He has some leadership qualities, I can see that. And fuxakes man, I wouldn’t want to be him or any other country’s leader right now.

Underpinning peoples income certainly isnt part of the free market freudian ideal that prevails in the mindset of the Tory government but needed in times of crisis !
I'd say it's a lot more in line with the Keynesian way of thinking !

The state temporarily covering wages of those who would otherwise become unemployed to lower the burden on private businesses (via grants paid to the businesses) to protect the capitalist system, without taking any stake in said businesses thus not taking any control for the state or the people and therefor not socialism :emoticon-0172-mooni

He may as well **** off and let Sunak and the scientists do the job. Johnson’s role has become the guy who points at the journalists during the press conference. As I’ve always said, he’s a game show host at best. He should let the grown ups to get the job done.

Yep it’s not free market capitalism. Not socialism either though. It’s emergency measures to avoid economic crisis. Hardly some embracing of socialist ideals.
