Im impressed with Adebayor....he makes attacking look very easy....just glides around and creates opportunities..im well impressed with him......we usually struggle to get out of the starting blocks against these kind of teams but now they seem to be starting as they mean to go on...Modric seems focused and i did question his commintment but i hold my hands up and fair play to the lad...and has anybody got a lighter? king will need to get that cigar out again for the second half..he is calmness personified
Not the best game for Ekotto. He cost us their goal, and very nearly cost us the equalizer for them. Still, this is just the kind of fixture that we need to be winning if we are to mount a challenge for a CL place, so well done to the lads!
Well that was a **** second half performance, wasn't it? Adebayor went out of the game after picking up his eye injury and van der Vaart ran out of steam, so we had no outlet. Bale moving to the right to cover Walker cost us some attacking momentum after the sending off, too. Redknapp took far too long to make any changes, although not having a striker on the bench may have been responsible for that. Might have been better putting Kane on there instead of Townsend, given the absence of Defoe and Pavlyuchenko. Another win though, so I'm fairly pleased, despite the way we lost our momentum from the first half.
Very happy with Bale MOTM - once again gets a player sent off because he's tooooooooooooooooooooooo gooooooooooooooooooooood very unhappy with BAE - what is wrong with him - top player but doesn't understand, unlike the far superior Ledley put it out when in doubt. Fantastic win overall, now we are in with a real shout for top 4.
Good away result but we really need to learn how to kill games off when we're on top. There's no way we were going to control the second half like the first so put the game to bed when the opportunity's there. Similar thing happened with Liverpool when it took us 60 odd minutes to get the second goal and 80 odd for the third. A game is never over at 2-0 and it showed today. Still, 3 wins on the bounce so can't complain too much. Adebayor's made such a huge difference to this team and was brilliant again before getting that bang to his head.
I'll take a win any day not great in the 2nd half, but i think all the injuries are really limiting us atm.
Assou-Ekotto's slightly underwhelming performance might be down to having to play 120 minutes in the week, as he was definitely off the pace in the second half. He needs to be rested for the midweek game against Shamrock.
Ade has been fantastic, so have Bale, Modric, VDV and plenty of others. But FFS, BAE stop being so cool and put the ball into touch when necessary.
It might be, but I've seen him do absolutely dumb things like that before. Unfortunately, he has that in his locker. He is our best LB, but King is waaaaaay better than him, and doesn't take silly chances like that. FFS Benny, learn from a legend and don't take numbnuts chances.
It was a fantastic win, of all three recent wins, this pleased me the most. With more to choose from v Arsenal, I fancy us to win.
The only real negative thing i could see was that our bench is looking a little streched now.Need some players back quickly, also i'm constantly praying that Ade doesn't get injured.
Judging by the interview that Harry gave to the BBC after the game, where he slated our defence, I'm betting that Ekotto got the hairy-dryer treatment for his cock-ups today. I hope the lad had something loud playing on his iPod, at the time.
Overall, it was a great win. With our injuries/illnesses and crowded schedule, to have taken three points was tremendous. Especially as Ade was pretty much a passenger after his eye problem. VDV's finishing for the first goal was absolutely superb, so pleased to see him and Sandro back. Bale for me was MOTM, the fact that players continually foul him and thus get rightly sent off, is a massive bonus for us. Gohouri going, meant in effect it was 10 v 10, balancing up Ade's 'passenger role'. That sending off really helped us to hang on as they brought back a mid (Stam I believe, who was playing further forward) to cover for Gohouri.
Yes, Benni seemed to go back to his bad old habits, yesterday. I hope that Harry will sort it with him. Apart from his, now thankfully, much fewer "lapses of concentration" he's a bloody good player. But, he really needs to cut that **** out.
