Bruno has been awarded the PL Player of the Month award - not a bad start to his United career. Shame we couldn't get this deal over the line in the summer window.

Has been without a doubt the best player in the league since he moved over.

There was clear lack of foresight and execution of a strategy too slow which is pathetic given how strongly we were linked to him in the summer. Instead we wasted time appeasing on Raiola's boyfriend. We can only hope that we will be doing better going forward.

    Better late than never.

we’ve had dozens and dozens of duds out of very expensive buys. Some turned out to be absolute flops such as falcao and MFs too many to mention or players with a disruptive attitude like Pogba. So out of those we were bound to get a good’un sooner or later. In fact it’s taken far too many years.

Wan Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Dan James (not expensive admittedly) and now Fernandes have all proven to be decent.

Even Igalo is doing his bit.

    What's the link?

The common denominator is that these players are or have been keen to play for the club. None of the usual end of career or star galactico types whose wages are so high that United are one of the few clubs who can have them. Or some who think that they've achieved their lifetime ambition even though they are 21 yrs like Depay.

Ighalo has been a breath of fresh air. He has been like a kid at Christmas and the complete opposite of Falcao who was in a similar situation.

I wouldn't say that exactly but he's made decent signings and has a clear outline for the squad going forward.

    Unlike his three predecessors.

I think the argument is narrow to simply point to signings made as the reason why the team is performing better. We can't expect any manager to get a brand new 11 to start performing. Consequently, everyone in the squad has massively stepped up this year. Matic, for example, has been exceptional. The relationship between him and the manager was in the basement few months ago, but that has been completely turned around to earn him a contract extension. I can't credit Ole enough for his equanimity and mature approach to resolving issues unlike the man before him. Shaw is also getting back to what we always expected of him (Ole used Brandon to trigger a reaction from him which has been a masterstroke). Fred has been doing fanatically well for the team, Linderlof works well with Harry, McTominay is always pulling a shift and even Martial has the magic. This shows that there is a good element of continuity within the squad with the talents.

The common denominator here is still of course - Ole. He is clearly learning how to get the best out of the existing team and leveraging the new signings. There can now be no doubts about that and great credit to the manager for that. Shame that covid-19 is stopping that momentum but I believe we are in a position to pick up where we left off when the season eventually resumes.

I would also point out that Pogba missing has been an addition by subtraction for the team spirit. He should not be allowed to play for the club again, in my opinion. His presence is far too disruptive given his huge ego. Unless Ole, of course, can work his magic there again.

For me it's simply the fact we've brought in an excellent creative midfielder. For all of Ole's efforts, and the quality we have in the squad, they would not be performing as a team to the standard they are now if we hadn't bought Fernandes. The second half of the season would've been just as much a stop/start, week in week out affair as it had been in the first half.

I can't remember the game, but one of his first appearances coming on as a sub and the complete change in the rest of the team around him when he started playing was incredible. And it's been the case in every game since.
