Absolutely this. I won't cancel mine cos of this but I would hope that Sky look at this and take the view that they can't provide what I pay for and offer some form of reduction in my plan. They could start by taking the right form of action and get rid of the Sunday Supplement - it's ****ing turgid
Agree to that mate, long pat it’s best I’ve no doubt that they will look at suspending contracts, it’s gonna need charity from the FA etc first. For me, freezing payments and asking that contact rolls to cover extended season would be the solution, but I guess there’s a hell of a lot of work to agree that. For a start, they’d need to finance the £160million per month loss in the short term.
TBH it would be fairer if the money was better distributed throughout the game which I appreciate isn't down to Sky. People say the little clubs bankrupt themselves but the top teams give away most of their money to the players which goes out of the game ... don't Man Utd have a massive debt, ridiculous tbh. If any clubs go under I hope a few of the big spenders suffer ... ... of course they won't.
I totally agree, but it comes down to supply and demand as with anything. People around the world are fascinated by a United or a Liverpool, there’s little interest in a Rochdale for example. Most things in the world are set up to be self funding, it’s sad that smaller clubs can’t do this now. Closed doors wouldn’t hurt the Premier League a jot, but it would crucify League One and below. We all felt it a little when Bury went and it’s an awful thought that 15-20 clubs could be in real trouble. Macclesfield and Southend are already at deaths door, even a delay could finish those 2 off, the knock on effect is horrific. Even at a local level, our clubs losing ticket sales, companies that supply our food etc are losing their biggest income. Pubs losing matchday revenue. Sport, and not just football, is so deeply engrained in our lives and we generally don’t think about the chain that relies on it. The licensed trade has been flat for years, and those twice monthly boosts are unquestionably essential to your non chain establishments. It’s a horrific mess and it’s going to be a long and rocky recovery.
Take football out of the equation, the world economy will be on its knees in the next few months, Football is just a small part of this crisis. Sky/Football will be nothing more than another statistic when this really starts to go tits up.

This is where I have a problem with Sky tbh, or rather the PL. Selling the PL to Burkina Faso and Ulan Bator may bring in huge amounts of money for Sky and the PL but its highly destructive to the development of the game locally and produces a weird imbalance. Yeah I do get it mate. I mean before the Premier League let’s not forget that the football shown on TV on a Sunday was still top flight football. The globalisation of sport was always going to happen with the development of satellite technology and the internet, maybe the monster TV deals accelerated this, but it was always going to happen with the changing world. What I think we all agree on is not the money going into the game, but the distribution of funds, and the folk who control that are the FA and the EFL. The FA breakaway for the Premier League happened before the TV rights let’s not forget, Sky was at that time a struggling new start that took a massive gamble on those rights in the hope that there was such a demand for the new league that folk would pay for it. Having 2 governing bodies within one league effectively is the issue. The FA are solely looking after ‘their’ league, the Premier. That would be a reform that could help the distribution. Do we need the EFL? The FA is magnificently rub, generally, and they, I’m sure, could do a much better job on overseas rights for the other leagues than the EFL. The EFL trophies carry little interest either in comparison to the FA Cup. Look at the fantastic academies and facilities many clubs have, they didn’t happen without Sky, and Sky didn’t pay for it without our demand. Its fixable long term, but the short term damage of corona is going to be a whirlwind.
Right lads, here’s my advice. Sky will allow you to ‘pause’ your sport with no fees. Effectively this is a cancellation without penalty, and you will be put back on when the sport returns. Before you take this option open your bill and see how much you pay for sport. If it’s £20 or less, don’t think about cancelling cos it will cost you more in long run, instead ask for an account review. We will see if we can lower other costs around your sport, give you an 18 month reduction, meaning that you will benefit long beyond the return of sport. If you are paying under £20, it will cost you more to re-add, and if we take a chunk of your broadband and your base TV, you get an immediate reduction and an 18 month benefit. Also, you will get unlimited free landline calls to keep in touch with anyone in isolation, free Sky go for 5 people, access to Disney plus, and films due on at cinema will be screened on Sky on release day. There’s lots on there, but long standing customers look after your deal, once your £20 or less you always will be, and if you drop it you won’t get that deal back. That’s not a deliberate ploy, it’s just the way that it works with point of sale offers’. Whichever route you go, I can categorically say that Sky have gone above and beyond to make sure that nobody is losing out. The phone staff are exceptional and you should ask them for ‘options’ rather than just to ‘cancel’ - you’ll get sorted right out. This came into play from 7pm. If you’ve already got a cracking deal, like a couple have mentioned, the bigger picture is that you don’t wanna lose it. I’ll reply to as many PM’s as I can, if you need a bit of advice. What they’ve put in place for staff to make sure that customers get the best advice is incredible, you will get the correct recommendation, with no thought to salary, targets or owt like that.
Just looked at my bill and am paying 101 for TV with sports and Movies along with broadband and phone. Does this seem about right or am I overpaying. Just seen it's going up to 105 next month. Paying 28 for sport and 11 for movies I think. Would it be worth me ringing to try for a discount as I'm a VIP customer. Obviously I will give it a couple of weeks to settle down as everyone will be ringing at the minute. Any advice appreciated and apologies for putting you on the spot.
Yeah you can do better than that mate, in fact you’ll automatically get better than that by reconstructing now. Make sure you’re asking for Q if you ain’t got it and the new packs can get you premium Netflix for £4 add on. If it’s non urgent give it a few days, the staff have been sensational, there’s a great atmosphere on there which is credit to Sky for taking the pressure off them, but there’s about 40% absence now business wide and something like 15 times the usual calls. Few days wait won’t hurt anyone who’s ok, but it may help the guys get through the folk who are financially stricken and have lost their income.

That’s the way mate. It will probably ease off after weekend, usually when there’s a crisis we get mobbed for 3-5 days, this has been that already but it’s affecting more folk so call next week there’s a bit to be had there for you. 100%.
You’re deal is perfect mate, you’ve literally got the best available and you wouldn’t wanna lose that. It’s bang on the money (same deal as my dad ha).
I was speaking to them yesterday and they were absolutely brilliant. Took me a while to get through which is understandable but when I did they couldn’t do enough.
Update for you all lads. You can now freeze charges as of 1pm, please try and do online or you can as we are in bedlam as you can imagine, but sport charges removed for everyone for 90 days. Will benefit you all and is effective immediately from today. I can’t stress enough of you can do online or through your box please do, the phone staff are doing incredible work but they simply haven’t the hours in the day. We have to physically change it the systems simply don’t have the functionality to credit 8million accounts automatically. You will still have access to all channels. It’s above and beyond, no other broadcaster is doing it as yet, hopefully they follow suit quickly.
