We told tonight by our Area Manager if we need to self isolate we won't be paid.

They said someone home tonight because she had a cough and was sneezing.

The Govt guidance is clear. You should work from home if you can.
    You can.
Send your email if you wish, but I’d focus on getting them to respond, in writing (email is fine) confirming they’re not allowing you to work from home.
When needing to write things down people often change their minds!

Why does it matter where he went to school? He probably got in on a scholarship as he’s bright. His parents whilst having decent jobs (GP and Pharmacist) I doubt those jobs facilitated enough spare cash for those type of fees.

The type of school he went to plays a massive part in how he speaks and projects himself.

Those type of schools place a big emphasis on public speaking, debating and other oratory arts. They have done for generations.

This is because English, and the way it is spoken, is perceived by some to have great value.

At my old school in a deprived part of east Hull – now defunct – there was little emphasis on public speaking, debating or other oratory arts.

Sorry Leon your reference to educational establishments doesn’t mean you’re automatically going to be great at public speaking or debating.

One of my Sisters male friends grew up in a single parent family on a council estate and went to a bog standard secondary school. He was incredibly clever and was coveted by Oxford and Cambridge University - He chose Durham University as it was slightly less pretentious, and he has been very successful. He’s also an excellent speaker and given his background you would think he’d had a privileged upbringing, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

No worries GLP. Plus an interesting side step from this all consuming horror.

Of course, you get exceptions that prove the rule and in my everyday life I’m surrounded by people who, by and large, went to fee paying schools.

In truth I think they struggle to understand a word I’m saying half the time.

Always someone to overstate/understate the reality of the situation to get themselves cudos or attempt to "show" intellectual superiority.
"Peace in out time" comes to mind as the opposite of your question/observation.
From what I see, much of the media and many a politician are either misunderstanding the severity of the situation, or creating a panic environment as you suggest.
What the hell does the man in the street believe ? It seems the experts/politicians have seen the error of their ways over the last 2 or 3 days. yet the press are crucifying them in some ways for not getting the strategy right first off. The complexity & logistics of the problem is immense. There are likely to be twists & turns. Blaming them (experts advisors) is pointless & counter-productive. The opposing politicians are playing the same game as the press despite their mantra of working together. Point scoring all of them.

Lots of secondary schools in Hull have closed their Year 7 - 9 classes as they’re struggling to staff them. Focus being on those doing GCSEs.

It's less than 1 % of the proposed allocation.
