It was hard to figure out what drivers were in what teams and then knowing what car that actually was on screen. Other than the obvious BMW livery. Also why did they play the British national anthem for BMW (Germany) Andretti (USA). Are they really under a British licence? I did like the podium though. Was very cool.
Yes the graphics showing the drivers wasn't very helpful at all. They need to add a colour to each team similar to F1, but they wont do that as it's what F1 do!!!! I thought I must have missed something on National Anthem as well, seemed very weird to have UK one. Podium was good, getting the cars more in shot to drivers on podium to me showed it's not just drivers. That said it looked like the only parts that the teams 'build' are the motors, and gearbox (do they have multiple speed gearbox?) or am I missing something?
For some reason, yes they are. They're a continuation of the Andretti team - but I've no idea why they were under a GB license either. Venturi are competing under a Monegasque license, oddly.
Most teams have 3 or 4 speed gearboxes, I think some teams have single gears? Or at least experimented with them in previous years. They have different motor configurations, which I think influences gearbox choice.
Watched today's race. Much better than the first of the season, seems like they're working out how to actually show the races now!
Watched it last night. Very tight race and actually quite exciting. Why is it other series can get cars to follow each other instead of the 3 sec gap.
https://www.motorsport.com/formula-e/news/london-return-excel-exhibition-2020/4347385/ With no F1 race, I might be interested in going
Decent race today, good battle for the lead and an entertaining incident or two! Lucas di Grassi was pretty scathing in his criticism of the qualifying format though, essentially saying it's design to ensure a close championship and make sure leading contenders don't emerge.
I have enjoyed this whole season but they still have a few flaws like the qualifying. And the Red flag length. Good job I wasnt watching live and i could fast forward but boy did I have to work for it!
Just watched the NYC race, it was exciting but some of the driving is very amateurish when considering there are some familiar names in there. Massa taking out Verne was just silly and then everyone piled in. What is good though, is they try and hold off on safety cars wherever possible. There was debris on the track but off the racing line so they left it there and let the race carry on.
Crazy, crazy race. It seems like the drivers know they can get away with far more contact, so push that even further. Massa was daft, not sure if Vergne could have had the championship wrapped up or not without that.
Bird's 10 sec penalty seemed out of context though with everything else that was going on. Must use the same graduates from stewarding school as F1 do.......
The 'attack mode' is how they should have implememnt DRS imo, dedicated zones on each straight and everyone gets 2 x 5 mins. Fan boost sucks arse though, I wonder how many votes each team manipulates.
I quite like the attack mode as they also have to go off line to activate it. What I don't get is the boost is something like 10kW but does that mean that that is increasing the max power the motor is allowed to use, a bit like if F1 had attack mode the max fuel flow would be 110kg/hr? If it is an extra 10kW they can consume doesn't that mean the batteries will lose extra 0.5kWhr (10kW for 5 mins) than those who don't use attack mode?
