I'm sure they were talking only this week about having mics on refs in the near future...definitely for VAR calls/discussions, not sure about decisions in general. But it's a starting point!
I want it to stop players bullying the ref but there it's definitely a benefit in knowing how decisions are reached
I have vague memories of this being done years ago possibly with David Ellary and most of it was unbroadcastable . Theoretically they would have to send off approx 7 players per game for foul & abusive language so somehow doubt they are going to do it . Mind you it would make this ridiculous modern habit of footballers talking with their hand over their mouth redundant so i'm all for it
They'd still cover the mouth through habit. And they'll still be taught to do it because they're not always speaking to the ref
Because almost every player does it now. I believe it's PR training. Late bloomers like Vardy don't usually do it
Yeah, I'm fine with that. Send them all off. What other profession exists - and where the employees are surrounded by chilren - which allows foul and abusive language or intimidation of officials? I fully believe that players should be taught how to speak, conduct themselves properly and about social awareness as part of their training rather than have excuses made for them. Everyone has job stresses and pressure. Countless other atheletes and sportspeople too.
