After we Almirion and ASM came off we became much more defensive, but it definitely wasn't a nail-biting close thing, them getting a second goal in the 93rd minute makes it seem close when it really wasn't.

It isn't the days of Keegan/Robson in terms of crap defenses, these days the defense is much better at keeping a lead, and I was never really in any doubt that we'd win that, even after they got the first goal back.

Let’s not forget matches do have another team playing. West Brom brought on 3 PL standard players which changed the game. We brought on Lejeune, Shelvey and Gayle plus changed to 5-4-1.

People being so negative (I get your being "realistic" but come on). We've beaten Chelsea and Man U so far this term. I'd fancy a chance against Spurs under Mourinho as he secretly loves losing to us. Sheff U would be the "easiest" of the teams through so far.

Keep saying it though, Quarter's, Semi's and Final anyone can beat anyone on the day. Glad to see the bin dippers out though! Anyone but City will do for me!

But we're not even playing once tomorrow, so it would be a very ****ing unlikely win!!

I don't know what has happened to his potential, but Longstaff was shocking tonight. Looked so slow of thought and action. No way he will start on Saturday. I also think Bentelab was poor tonight and will surprised if he plays Saturday. What we all learnt is that there is a big gap between top of the Championship and a solid mid table Premier league team like us. We played very well tonight mostly, but West Brom were also quite poor, albeit some occasional nice flashes.

Think he’ll go back to Hayden/Shelvey on Saturday. Bentaleb is too ponderous. Longstaff very poor, some terrible passing. However I think there is learning to be done; we’ve too often played without runners so if we stick at the formation the midfield should get more used to going “front foot” and getting it forward quicker. Shelvey is the best we have in this regard because he’s always looking for the forward pass. Bentaleb I think will improve but Longstaff is a concern.

Personally I'd be dropping Shelvey for either of Benetleb or Songstaff. Poor old voldermort looked like he had played 120mins by the end yet had played about 30!

Got to say I thought Gayle looked even further off the pace tonight than he did at the weekend as well when he came on. Really hope ASM/Ritchie takes his place and Big Joe up top with Miggy behind him.

Keegan first time and Sir Bobby didn’t have bad defences. You don’t finish in the League where we did with the two of them with bad defences. For KK in particular it’s a fallacy that we couldn’t defend.

people hating on benteleb, but he does keep the ball .. he tries to play... does need games but hes better than people are seeing... confident on the ball in tight areas... it goes wrong once or twice and its all they notice.

Played well, keep the same team and formation and let's start attacking teams. If we beat Saints I'll be very encouraged, I don't think Villa have a chance of survival.

Played OK but when we swapped Almiron and Maxi we reverted to defensive formation and looked very shaky at times. Bentaleb is a nightmare, very sloppy at times, give me Hayden every time.

A big help was putting Lazaro as a third attacker on the supporting 3. This is the difference when you can pick top flight players instead of the likes of Ritchie and Atsu.

Manquillo looks to be first choice RB all day as well. He’s been ok. Be helpful if Rose could focus on getting fit as well.

    Bipolar this fella. For sure.

One minute crying the blues the next singing the praises because we beat a championship side.

We have got to be one of the most over emotional boards on this site. A routine draw against Burnley and people are actually almost crying, a decent cup game and it's adulation.

    Calm down lads
