It seems to be because he told his brother that a player was joining Sevilla in 2018.
Seems a bit excessive, on the face of it. I'm sure more details will come out in time, though.

Telling somebody that a player is joining a club so they can profit at the bookies is wrong

...except when Sky Sports run stories about players joining another team for hours, days or weeks while also promoting SkyBet, then it's perfectly above board and should not be investigated for any reason whatsoever

Of course we don't need an overhaul

...I mean it's not obvious we need a DM, right back and centre back signed PMFQ, with various players departing to free up squad spaces, and that's before addressing other areas of the team that need freshening up such as left back and right wing

On the one hand, yes, obviously saying that we urgently need to sign half of a back four and the player screening them is only going to alert clubs that they're in the better negotiating position the second we come knocking on their door - but the way he's gone about it is guaranteed to piss off just about everyone, as on the one side those saying we clearly need three players signed NOW are going to be PO'd that he says we don't need an overhaul, while on the other the Lunatic Fringe start singing the same boring songs from their tiresome songbook

One thing that we desperately need to address is the situation with our U23/reserve side.
With the limitations being put on loans by FIFA soon, these games should become more important and competitive.
It's essential that we have somebody good that our manager trusts to run these fixtures.

The obvious issue with the academy is the transition from academy to professional

We certainly have players in that role, with corporate-speak job titles that make them sound ludicrous (Nigel Gibbs is Assistant Head of Player Development, Under-17 to Under-23, while Paul Bracewell and Paul Brush are both Professional Development Phase Coaches...seriously) and that's where things are going wrong, because as was posted on WindyCOYS's site a while back, as soon as a player turned 19 their development effectively stopped - with the obvious exceptions of Harry Winks, who was in the first team, or the players we repeatedly loaned out to try and get their value up such as Connor Ogilvie, while CCV is somewhere between the two

While people assume loans are the answer, that isn't necessarily true: Ledders, Bentaleb and Winks all stepped straight from the academy into the first team without any loans, while in other cases loans have been detrimental to a player be it Massimo Luongo being traumatised by McCarthyball at Ipswich, Kazaiah Sterling's season is effectively a write-off thanks to Doncaster's medical team ****ing up their diagnosis of a leg injury, while Marcus Edwards and Jack Clarke had half a season's worth of their time wasted by Norwich and Leeds respectively

The obvious suggestion is to build a better relationship with teams for loans, which makes sense given how many of our prospects have passed through Millwall, Swindon or Yeovil in the last ten years, but that's the obvious issue: potential loan clubs are always in flux, for example Ipswich's good start to the season meant they wanted to maintain their winning form so rarely risked giving Anthony Georgiou starts while Stoke's miserable start meant they weren't going to risk playing CCV, so essentially the ideal loan partner is a middling team who'll chunter along and finish 10th with maybe a late crack at the playoffs, and frankly that sounds bloody horrible

One odd thing of note: all of our sales to MLS clubs have been to the Canadian teams, with Defoe heading to Toronto while both Bink's and Wanyama went to Montreal

Good luck to the guy. Phenomenal first season for us.

Excellent news though, trimming the deadwood is essential and getting stuff like this done now leaves less work in the summer.

Shame how the injuries ruined him but for a while he was immense and I’ll never forget THAT goal against Liverpool at the kop end.

Whilst I am glad he's finally moved on and still resent the disgraceful attitude he showed in the Colchester game earlier this season, ultimately I do feel sorry for the guy. Always seemed a top bloke on and off the pitch, popular figure in the changing room who would now be at his absolute peak were it not for that injury he suffered (against Chelsea of course, because who the **** else would it have been against?). THAT goal against Liverpool remains one of my all-time favourites and probably always will be. Wishing him and his ex-knees all best across the pond. <applause>

If this is true, kudos to Levy. This is a small but significant sign that he knows what needs to be done to rescue this squad, and is doing it.

He was just the player we needed - when he joined and now. It is terrible luck - for him mainly but also for us - that his time with us was blighted by injury. Good luck Victor!
