Plumbers or know anything about plumbing?



I obviously know where the pipes go, but they don't tighten enough. Thanks in advance, guise

They don't tighten enough? Get a man in to do it

 

Meaning you tighten them to the end of the thingy but you can still "pull it off"

Have you tried applying mcaffee liberally?
Ye get stuff called plumbers tape. It’s white. Ye wrap it round so it seals. Either that or ye need some washers.

 

So the two yellow things and one black things are just rubber washers? Would the plumbers' tape go on outside of the pipe or inside?

 

There has to be a seal. The tape/washers will be unseen when the pipes are together. Do the pipes have a tread? That’s where ye wrap the plumbers tape so it catches properly.

 

Why did you unscrew it all, looking for something?

Tread? Do you mean a thread? No the pipes themselves don't, but the grey nut type thing does.

PTFE is not needed my friend. It is used by cowboys who do not install the fittings properly.
You’re better than that.

 

PTFE is used extensively offshore, so you are wrong my friend. I never saw any cowboys (or injuns) for that matter when I worked offshore.

 

The thread on a waste fitting is not a seal. The rubber and plastic washers are. Wrapping ptfe on a threaded waste fitting is moronic.

 

You need to insert the flange sprocket up your flue
