Yeah, could’ve just as easily happened the other end. It was an unusual fall and I’m sure there was no intent to injure, or recklessness towards Gerry’s safety. It was a very unfortunate way to land.

In real time I thought it was a penalty or free kick on the edge of the penalty and a card for Van Dinkle
If Deeneys tackle, tough as it was deserved a red card then LiVARpool should have been down to 7 or 8 players
Some referees might have given at least one penalty for Lovrens continued attempts to rape Deeney in the penalty area
LiVARpool were simply outplayed, outfought and of course outscored

Perhaps the same squad with an additional goalscorer could get you straight back up

VVD did not go out to injure Gerry, but his push and his positioning of his leg was deliberate, and THIS was the cause of the unnatural body movement and the subsequent injury.

it was a foul!!! watch the replays (esp. from behind) in this clip

In our village there’s been a Liverpool flag in someone’s back garden since the CL win (I think). It’s clearly taken a bit of a battering through the winter and now looks like this. Couldn’t resist stopping and taking a photo today - what a metaphor for Saturday’s hammering by the ‘Orns! A1D6053B-A4FD-451A-AB45-0F82E1EB94A6.jpeg

    PAINFUL DEFEAT FOR LIVERPOOL
The English title, no one has any doubt, remains just a matter of time - missing four wins with ten games to go. But the unprecedented achievement of the Premier League, so expected by Liverpool fans, will be a little less striking. Unrecognizable this Saturday at Vicarage Road, the Reds lost 3-0 to Watford and said goodbye to the chance to reach three historic marks. The defeat prevents Liverpool from being only the third undefeated Premier League champion - the second in the Premier League era. It also puts an end to a 44 game unbeaten run in the Premier League, the second biggest in the competition, when there were only five games left to reach Arsenal's record, achieved in 2004. In addition, Liverpool failed to achieve the 19th consecutive victory, which would be the longest sequence of triumphs of the competition, keeping the record shared with Manchester City from two seasons ago.

DOMAIN OF WATFORD IN THE 1st TIME
The first half has already served as a warning for Liverpool. Making mistakes in all sectors, the English leader was unable to combine any attacking moves, produced nothing in the middle and gave Watford generous spaces in defence. With 15 minutes, the home team had already created three good chances. At 33 minutes, Watford lost their best player on the field, Spaniard Deloufeu, who left on a stretcher with the risk of serious injury to his right knee after having his leg stuck on the field. Even without their main player, Watford remained better in the match.

WATFORD KILLS THE GAME IN THE 2nd HALF
In the seventh minute of the second half, Liverpool managed to make their first dangerous shot, a finish by Robertson well defended by Foster. It looked like the beginning of the reaction. But it stopped there. The mistakes continued, especially in defence, and Watford knew how to take advantage. At eight minutes, after a full-back, Doucouré, unmarked, received (a pass) in the area and crossed for Sarr to open the scoring. At 14, Deeney avoided the ball from the side, and the unpretentious shot found Sarr free to cover Alisson. At 26, the mistake was Alexander-Arnold, who tried to back off and gave Sarr a gift. The number 23 rolled the ball back, and Deeney shot into the empty net.

Then there is the minute by minute analysis.

At one of my weekly gym sessions this morning time flew as re-watched highlights, inteviews and analysis. It certainly made the weekly torture pass more quickly!
    Then I found this.

Or to put it in another way
Never in the history of football have so many fans been given so much pleasure by just one teams performance
But Tommy Mooney did it in their own back yard

It's also the first EPL shut out for Liverpool this season so far as I can tell. Only Atletico Madrid have managed that - the draw against Man Utd was 1-1....

The more I look at it I think this is the finest result and performance by a Watford side. One minor kerfuffle in our penalty area and one shot off the outside of the post were all that gave Watford pause... no last ditch heroic tackles required, no sitters missed, no world class saves required, no "taking one for the team "necessary... just an all round solid performance. Liverpool can moan all they want about "didn't turn up" but, to be fair, we didn't let them turn up.

It was our first year in the old second division
We nearly got relegated that year but got Villa relegated by doing the double over them which led to the epic Sun headline Aston Vanilla the team everyone loves to lick

Some teams achieve greatness, other have greatness bought for them and some just play Watford on the wrong day
