The fans of every English club have been ranked for 'Best fans' to 'No fans'

There’s nothing quite like attending a live football match.

Nothing beats being surrounded by fellow fans as you cheer your side on to victory.

Watching football on TV just doesn’t compare.

But who has the best fans in English football?

Every club will probably try to claim that title but one fan on Twitter has attempted to rank every single English side from ‘Best fans’ to ‘No fans.’

    It’s certainly got people talking.

    Let’s take a look:

    English Fans Ranked

Best fans: Newcastle, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Leeds

Great fans: Chelsea, Leicester, Tottenham, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United, Manchester United

Good fans: Arsenal, Sunderland, Watford, West Ham, Swansea, Charlton, Hull, Burnley, Birmingham, Everton, Nottingham Forest

Okay fans: Barnsley, Derby, Brighton, Portsmouth, Morecombe, Blackburn, Peterbrough, Cardiff, Doncaster, Coventry, Huddersfield, Ipswich, Bristol Rovers, QPR, Southampton, Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke, Tranmere

Bad fans: Macclesfield, Milwall, Wycombe, Reading, Norwich, West Brom, Crystal Palace, Carlisle, Preston, Fleetwood, Oxford, Rotherham, Northampton, Manchester City, Crawley

Sh*t fans: Plymouth, Blackpool, Walsall, Cheltenham, Southend, Shrewsbury, Barnsley, MK Dons, AFC Wimbledon, Grimsby, Wigan, Crewe, Leyton Orient, Scunthorpe, Rochdale, Bristol City, Swindon, Exeter, Mansfield, Cambridge, Fulham, Burton, Oldham, Luton

No fans: Bournemouth, Newport, Stevenage, Bolton, Lincoln, Brentford, Colchester, Bradford, Forest Green Rovers, Gillingham
Many fans pointed out that Wolves had been missed out but the creator revealed he would have placed them in ‘Best fans.’

But it’s a list that has upset many supporters.

The replies are full of fans complaining because their side is lower than another team.

We’re sure it was only created as a bit of fun and shouldn’t be taken too seriously.

    Great article WJ.

I don't think I am any less of a fan though, then lets say yourself who regularly attend ER and put money in their pockets.

Many years ago as a kid, a bloke asked me if I was a fan or a supporter, I asked what's the difference, he said a fan is someone who follows the fortunes of a club, a supporter is someone who goes and supports the club verbally and financially.

    Would you agree

If I lived in Leeds I’d be in for a season ticket without a doubt, I haven’t the finances to do that taking into account travel and having to work most Saturdays. I’ve watched Leeds at Elland Road and seen them win, I’ve seen them lose. I’ve watched them on Sky or seen the result and the joy of winning and the pain of defeat are no less or greater.

Would the club survive if everyone was like me, no they wouldn’t. Could I make life changing sacrifices to watch more games, yes I could which might include moving away from family but I’m not willing to do so. Does this mean those that follow the team home and away are more fanatical supporters than me, yes it has to.

Afternoon pal, I understand the difference but don't agree that there should be a difference. If I physically had the time or the finances to attend then I would.

I do think that what I do for Not606 / MOT which is read thousands of people each week is my way of contributing.

I remember Chesh telling me that in the 90's he drove all the way to Monaco, over 1000 miles. Does that make him more of a fan that lives in LS11 and walks to games?

I would agree with some of what you're saying, but I'm at fanatical as most.

Unless I'm being accused of being a plastic by Gary Edwards (who hasn't missed a game for 30 yrs and eats, sleeps, breathes LUFC) then who are they to cast aspersions

Doesn’t bother me what I’m classed as. Plastic, fan, supporter. I know what club means to me. All that matters <ok>

As a teenager, I became one of the original members of the West Mids supporters club, missed 1 game in 3 seasons, then had a job offer, which more or less doubled my wage but it meant I had to work Saturday's, I took the job, which meant I was only able to go to some midweek games plus Boxing day or Easter games.
Then after 5 years I had every other Saturday off, which meant I was able to attend more games. Then in 1997, things changed again so I was able to get a season ticket again, which I had until the 05/06 season , since then through choice of putting family first, I go to what I'm able, sure I'd love to go more but it's a balancing act, now the lads older he wants us to get season tickets again but not sure I could commit to it.
Anyway after all that, did I feel I was more of a fan when I attended, in all honesty yes I did to what I feel now. Especially those last 3 seasons of having my last ST, there were some long journies home and a lot of cat kicking*.

*For clarity, no animals were hurt, it'sjust a saying.

I know it’s subjective but how the hell did scum fans get included in the great fans section. There is no club in the world with a more plasticy feel to it’s fan base

That’s my view fella. If it’s in your blood it’s in your blood. Doesn’t matter where you live or whether you go to games.

    spoken like a true plastic.
